Our visit was very enjoyable, The Service was spot on food was well presented and tasteful , We thought the drinks ' wine ' was enjoyable but expensive , We had wanted to Order a bottle Champaign but on your on line price list was to high, This treat was for our 50th Wedding Anniversary, All in the Hotel and Grounds are Beautiful, Reguards Geraldine Sandford,
Lovely afternoon tea in beautiful setting. Very impressed that our request for wraps was met without fuss, and tasted great too, gorgeous cakes as well. Can't wait to go back.
Made a reservation for my Grandmothers 85th Birthday. There was a bit of confusion with our table - I had called specially to say she had issues with steps and seats, yet we were sat at a table that was up one set of stairs and down another set of stairs – there were plenty of tables with easier access. We were given a sofa not a sturdy chair as requested in a room that had large scaffolding at one end. Asked to be moved and it was resolved, it’s just frustrating to know you have already requested something and you have been told they can accommodate you. We also had dirty tea cups and they had run out some teas – loos were not very tidy. It was ok – the waiter was lovely but rushed off his feet, we left a little disappointed.
Wonderful afternoon tea and service was excellent
We have been to Ellenborough Park for afternoon tea over the last few years and always enjoyed the great hall and great food. Unfortunately on this occasion the great hall was closed and were sat in the dining room with some very strange music playing. This could not be helped however the food was brought out was far below the usual standard. There used to be a choice of 4 different types of scone including raspberry and chocolate. The only scones on offer were plain and sultana which was very disappointing and does not meet the standards set by other country retreats in the cotswolds for the same or less cost. The final course of cakes were all brought in and not made on site. Overall this venue is fantastic and deserves much better food than what was served up. I would need some persuading to return given the quality of other hotels also serving afternoon tea. Overall I would summarise this experience as overpriced and bland.
Lovely atmosphere for an afternoon tea.
Afternoon tea for a babyshower, they catered very well for the mixed dietary requirements and nothing was too much trouble. It was a lovely and relaxed atmosphere with no feeling of being rushed.
The tea was cold very quickly. The strainers still allowed a lot of tea leaves through (orange tea). Service was slow - we tried to ask for more cream for the scones and it was a while before we found anyone to ask! Sandwiches were fresh, and cakes were lovely. Good choice of dairy free items too.
