The flagship venue of Howies, Waterloo can be found in a beautiful Georgian building at the foot of Calton Hill. Each restaurant is unique with its own passionate chef and team creating wonderful dishes from Scotland’s incredible natural larder. Pop in for lunch and enjoy the delicious handmade beef burger with chutney and fries which is delicious on its own, or depending on how hungry you feel, add bacon, cheese, onion rings, or haggis for an extra quid each. The Scran and Scallie is a charming pub with two of Scotland’s top chefs and Michelin star chefs, Tom Kitchin and Dominic Jack. Together, they create the most delicious, fresh home-cooked dishes using seasonal local produce. Now that you have some background, let’s get to what you really want; the burger verdict. We recommend the Highland beef burger and chips (£14.50) a juicy and delicious classic, and aifter yer burger we suggest making your way to the bar for a wee dram…or two.
If you’re looking for the best burgers in Edinburgh, Brewhemia will be right up your street. This German-inspired space is all things to all people, going from a chilled out coffee shop to a Moulin Rouge-inspired paradise, depending on the room you’re in. But we’re here to talk about great burgers, or should we say sehr gut burgers? These guys have got it down to a T regardless of the language, letting you choose from buffalo burgers, cajun chicken, and a super-tasty sweet potato and mushroom patty. Then top them off with cheddar, bacon, haggis, black pudding, or onion rings, and enjoy with their famous IPA compote and house fries.
