If you’re a romantic, you need to go to Whitley Hall Hotel’s Restaurant 1584. Guests at the hotel often describe the restaurant as the jewel in the crown of their stay. It serves modern British cuisine and has earned 2 AA rosettes after cooking superb food for years. You’ll need to book this place as you could be disappointed. Might be best to stay the night as their wine cellar is stocked to the brim with perfect accompaniments to all palates and budgets. You can choose to opt for either their set 3 course table d’hote menu or individually price al la carte, lots of options.
The Devonshire Arms
Situated in the village of Middle Handley is this stylish and modern country pub, only 9 miles from Sheffield, and offers the perfect respite from city life, you can even stay the night. The bar has any number of amazing ales, gins, and bespoke cocktails, and the food menu is just as good. Try some of the sharing plates, the brie fritters, lamb cutlets, and the halloumi fries are the ones to watch, mainly because we love cheese. Even if you’re not staying over, we’d recommend trying the Sunday lunch and stay for the live music in the evening to be serenaded.
