A home-cooked Sunday Roast sounds great, but let’s be honest with our hectic schedules ain’t nobody got time for that! Leave the cooking to the pros and head to the capital for a Sunday Roast in Edinburgh that is sure to satisfy your cravings.
A relatively new addition to Edinburgh’s dining scene, Sonder is “the realisation that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own”. This makes sense as at one point the owners were living pretty vivid and complex lives themselves, making food in all sorts of unusual locations. From a boat in Nairobi to the base camp of Mount Everest, but for now they have set up shop in Edinburgh and we’re glad they have. A modern dining experience using seasonal Scottish ingredients, this place do a cracking Sunday Roast. Think roast pork belly with apple sauce, or a meaty lamb rump cooked with rosemary and garlic. All their boards are also served with seaweed roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables and cauliflower cheese, delicious!
Drag yourself out of bed this Sunday and make your way to the capital for a delicious Sunday Roast at Otro. Sister restaurant to another Edinburgh favourite New Chapter, Otro is a gorgeous Scottish Bistro that you can find in Edinburgh’s West End. This place exudes a cool French bistro vibe and they do an extensive Sunday menu. Choose from the classic roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roast potatoes, and seasonal vegetables or opt for the garam masala beer-battered haddock, yellow split peas, coconut, and pickled carrots. Whatever you fancy you’ll definitely find something here to suit your tastes.
The Scran and Scallie
“Sit ye doon yer welcome,” at the Scran and Scallie for some Sunday scran. A charming pub with two of Scotland’s top chefs behind the food you know it’s going to be a good one. Joining forces they create delicious home-cooked dishes using seasonal local produce. We should tell you it does get quite busy so we recommend you book a table to avoid disappointment.
The Shore Bar and Restaurant
Keep your eyes peeled for this hidden restaurant at the far end of the Shore, aptly named the Shore Bar and Restaurant. If you’re looking for a cosy place to enjoy your Sunday Roast in Edinburgh then this is the place for you. Here you’ll find open fires, hearty food, as well as live music to keep you entertained while you enjoy your meal.
