An enjoyable light lunch- enjoyable fresh vegetarian risotto.
When I booked the table I was reminded by the receptionist that my husband doesn't eat chocolate! We had visited previously and this was showing on the hotel system, really impressive customer service. We were welcomed by very pleasant members of staff and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. The view from the restaurant is fabulous, made all the better by a sunny afternoon. Thankyou, we shall be visiting again in the future.
Food was well presented and delicious. Although it seemed to take a long time for staff to take our order, it was worth waiting for and the young man looking after us, who I believe has only joined recently, was a real credit to the hotel.
Again, a memorable meal - a pleasure from first to last.
Fantastic meal, food was gorgeous and the hotel is beautifully refurbished. Only downside - service was very slow, took two hours to have our starter and main course so we passed on a dessert. Restaurant felt rather understaffed for a busy Saturday evening.
The service and the excellent food which was provided to us at The cottage in the wood this sunday was outstanding. Our waiter couldn't do enough and service was very quick. We have a very fussy child but this didn't matter as the menu covered any fussy child's needs. And that view what more could you want...thank you so much we will return again soon.
Very friendly staff. Great service and lovely food. Nothing too much trouble. A real find, thank-you.
Nice gesture to hand us a card when they were aware it was our wedding anniversary. Despite it being a quite lunchtime we felt entirely comfortable with the atmosphere. Views of course are superb. Look forward to another visit.
Amazing food, incredible staff and service and the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in! Our stay was wonderful, and made our weekend really special. Thank you!
Amazing food Great atmosphere Stunning venue with beautiful views Staff fantastic
We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea. The dining room was well appointed with spectacular views, and the staff were helpful and friendly.
excellent in every way
Lovely afternoon tea with a beautiful view. The food was lovely, probably a bit too many egg mayo sandwiches, would have been good to have another option in there. The others I was with said their hot chocolate came out a bit luke warm. Overall it was great though!
We really enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant, but we are not accustomed to such a relaxed pace. Although we would have liked to try a dessert, we decided that we were too tired to spend another half hour or so waiting.
Fabulous afternoon tea.
Excellent afternoon tea, lovely sandwiches and lots of sweet cakes. Good scones with clotted cream, some may prefer to put their own jam and cream on the scones rather than have it pre-done. Very good choice of teas, some of which may be loose leaf, others are just bags. To keep the standard high I think loose leaf teas for all choices is better.
Great views, great food and service... will highly recommend
We went to The Cottage in the Wood for Sunday lunch on a beautiful sunny day and the restaurant, service, atmosphere, and view were second to none. The locally sourced wine and food were generous and delicious but I've had to drop a star from the food & drink and value for money categories because one member of our party was vegetarian, and by comparison to the big hearty meaty meals, his serving was small to say the least involving little more than a sauce, a little asparagus and a small portion of pasta. Unfortunately the generous vegetable side dish was covered in chopped meat and he was reluctant to take any. We should have said something at the time, and we did have a lovely visit, but I thought I'd flag it up for the future as it's good to get a hearty portion whether you're veggie or not.
The background music was a little more obtrusive than I would like, hence the lower score for atmosphere, but others may have different views. The panoramic view from the restaurant was stunning - a good day to visit.
My family met to celebrate Easter Sunday and my Son's birthday. Enjoyed the experience. The food was good and portions were ample. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. A grand day out..
The setting is stunning, the welcome and service were friendly but efficient and the food was wonderful! We will certainly be back and have already recommended it to friends. Thank Beckie and Amanda and the chef for helping to make my husbands 70th a really lovely day.
We had a very special birthday lunch with three generations! Food excellent, chef roast potatoes were perfect. The wine recommended very good. All members of staff pleasant, helpful and friendly. A memorable occasions. Rosie.
Enjoyed a really lovely Afternoon Tea in lovely surroundings. We definitely return and recommend to family and friends.
Great event! Slight;y surprising that the person running the course didn't stay the full day but we all had a good time, enjoyed out meal, were very well cared for throughout and went home happy! Another good experience at Th Cottage in the Wood.
