I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast, thank you. The only minor comment would be the slightly lacking vegan options e.g. vegan yoghurt or a vegan cooked breakfast. This left only toast with mushrooms and tomatoes as options, alongside the porridge, which were enjoyed, but it was a shame not to see something like vegan sausage for example.
Wonderful food, lovely service in a happy and safe environment. Really enjoyed my dinner and breakfast. Definitely recommended!
As always we had a delightful couple of hours with friends. Good food ,good service, good Covid awareness, and a view to die for, although We have sen it many times, living as we do in the area. We look forward to a reason for a return visit......do we need a reason??
Disappointing. In my reservation I said it was booked due to birthday celebrations. Even in light of that service was poor and no mention by anyone it was a birthday!! I expected a warm and friendly welcome. The waiter walked past us 3/4 times without acknowledging our presence. Food was nice but Caesar salad I expect that on the menu it states includes anchovies .. overall an average rating!
A very enjoyable lunch relaxed and safe thank you
Excellent service as usual. Carrots and parsnips where a bit hard, but still edible. Love coming to eat at your fantastic restaurant. We will be back soon. Many thanks
Another very warm welcome, excellent service, superb food and a better location you could not ask for!
Excellent food and service.
Brilliant service today from a lovely friendly positive waiter! Sorry I didn’t ask him for his name but he said he was from Romania
Afternoon tea at The Cottage in the Woods absolutely delightful in these uncertain times.
Lovely location, great views , friendly staff but very disappointed with evening meals at the 1919 “Award winning restaurant “ Poor value for money, expensive and mediocre meals, minuscule portions.
The food and service were excellent when we dined for an evening meal in the 1919 restaurant. The vegetarian option was particularly good and prepared to a high standard. All the flavours to all the courses were superb and left us with a lasting impression of an enjoyable meal. The service was quick, professional and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was as good as it could be considering the Covid restrictions and the restaurant did it's best under difficult circumstances at this particular time. I would really recommend you try the 1919 restaurant for excellent food and service.
I think this place is trying to be more than it can achieve at the moment. The FoH staff are great - helpful, polite, sufficiently attentive without being overbearing or intruding on the meal. What lets it down is "the main event" - the food and drink. Having spent nearly a week in the area, eating in various pubs, I have to say most pubs were better than here. The food was rather bland and uninspiring. Serving kale as plain boiled in a separate dish that hadn't been warmed meant it went cold quickly. Who wants to eat cold, plain boiled kale? Wine choices were "out of stock" as well - not a good sign if the place can't stock it's wine list (change the list?!?). Overall - for a wedding anniversary meal - it was a let-down.
Really enjoyed our stay. We wanted a really quiet and beautiful location on the way to Cheltenham Literature Festival and it delivered on all fronts. The views are breathtaking.
Beautiful surroundings and views, excellent service from friendly staff and a delicious afternoon tea. What more could you ask for!
Wonderful setting, beautiful hotel and fantastic service. two small observations; The dinner menu could have a couple of more dishes - a speciality dish and a dish of the day. Couple of areas in need of redecoration - ceiling in dining room. Cant wait to come back again.
Extraordinary place - to find apart from anything! Food excellent. Parking appalling.
Excellent menu. Nice space between courses. Shocked to find lime and soda more expensive than Martini !
Delicious food in a gorgeous setting.
All staff were friendly, approachable and engaging. It feels difficult to judge atmosphere as I’m sure it’s because of covid that the restaurant and bar aren’t nearly as busy as they would be. Great views and a lovely getaway!
Delightful meal with great view spoiled by hopeless service. Requests forgotten, kept waiting for coffee, condiments and a pity they wouldn’t allow our small dog into the restaurant which was far from crowded due to Covid.
Nice staff and food in a beautiful setting.
Absolutely wonderful evening - lovely view, superb food and delicious wine. Especially liked the pairing suggestions on the menu. All staff were friendly and service was at a perfect pace. Thank you!
The quality of the food was excellent, though the choice was not extensive. Covid-19 restrictions were managed quite well, but obviously had an impact on the atmosphere.
Superb experience - the covid masks were much appreciated given the recent heightened concerns and did not distract from the efficient but light touch service (not preened over excessively). Food was exquisite and the quick alterations by Chef to accommodate one of us being GF/DF was wonderful as the menu was barely affected. Everything we hoped for for our anniversary meal and we will be back for Sunday lunch soon.
