Bit pricey for what it is, but lovely atmosphere
This was our second visit to the The Balmer Lawn Hotel. Both visits have been a relaxing get away. The hotel, food and staff have all been excellent. Would definitely come again.
Great place to gather with friends for lunch. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere and delicious food.
Beautiful food and wonderful service!

Enjoyed two amazing meals this week that were faultless. The staff were so friendly and the product knowledge superb. Cant remember the last time I have enjoyed meals away so much. Thank you. Liz Bamber
Thanks to everyone we enjoyed ourselves very much.
Absolutely fantastic. Not one area where you could improve. The room you had set for mothers day afternoon teas was wonderful. Away from everyone else having big dinners etc so that was greatly appreciated. The gentleman who welcomed us (Scottish guy) was really welcoming and friendly. Paid good attention to us and we never had to ask for anything as you guys were checking in every so often. The food was really lovely and just the right amount. Infact a little too much as we had to take some home :) Carry on the great work.
I wanted to treat my mum on Mother's Day by taking her to lunch at Beresfords. In fact I found myself apologising to her for taking her there. The service was fine but the dining certainly was not. We both started with cauliflower veloute which as it turns out is a bowl of Luke warm cream with a small floret of raw cauliflower floating on top. My mother chose roast lamb for her main course but could neither cut nor chew the lamb and left it. I opted for shallot tart tatin which was both bland and Luke warm. I spoke to the waitress about these problems and she said she would pass on my comments to the Chef. I didn't hear anymore from her.
Great Staff, Great food what more are you after !!
Excellent service, homely atmosphere and perfect location.
We had a lovely afternoon enjoying our pre birthday cream tea. The settings is lovely despite the weather. We were made to feel welcome and staff very attentive. Thank you for the complimentary drinks.
Service was excellent. Surroundings lovely. Was not very impressed with scones and cakes. Scones were slightly over cooked on bottom and crispy round edge. Cakes were not what I would expect with English cream tea. Eg Victoria sandwich , eclairs. Seemed a bit continental.
Lovely meal. Food cooked to perfection and presentation was excellent would definitely eat here again Price reasonable
Lovely food served by very friendly staff. Lovely hotel- the staff really were excellent throughout the hotel!
We came here in the summer the menu hasn’t changed much , but the food was on point
This afternoon tea was for my daughter’s 21st birthday. We were surprised that teabags were offered as opposed to leaf tea and that we had to pick the tea bag out ourself. Also no further teabags were offered, in fact we had to ask for some more hot water and were brought one pot of hot water (there were 6 of us). The cream and jam supplied with the scones was minuscule and we had to request some more. The waiter was not particularly attentive. We have had much better afternoon teas elsewhere.
Fantastic food and service
Food and service were excellent and particularly the maitre’d who’s advice on food intolerances was very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal
Food well presented and delicious. Service friendly.
Always fantastic food and excellent service
Thanks to Abdul who made a big fuss of my 8 year old daughter who was having her first afternoon tea with me. We had a lovely time, with great food and service even though most of the tables were full up. We’ll definitely be back
The Sunday lunch for a party of 6 was very good, and service was excellent, we were seated at the end of the restaurant which was pleasing however the temperature in the room was on the cool side. We were slightly disappointed in the choice on the dessert menu which resulted in only 2 of the group ordering desserts
Lovely food, atmosphere and service- only think that could be improved upon was the time spent waiting to be served.
