About The Plumpy Duck at Bowfield
The Plumpy Duck at Bowfield Hotel is a new contemporary bar and restaurant.
Our chefs have created a modern menu, capturing the best of what Scotland’s larder has to offer. With 100% Scottish reared beef from the lush hills of Scotland, seafood from Loch Fyne Fisheries and game sourced from Highland estates.
Featured alongside great classic dishes and some firm family favourites.
Afternoon Tea is served Monday to Friday, 12.00 - 16.00. Please book to avoid disappointment.

The dinner on Saturday night was excellent however the food and service on Sunday at breakfast was appalling.

There was a bit of a wait for our drinks but the girls working in the restaurant were busy so we didn’t mind waiting. The food was outstanding- again a slight wait but well worth it because of the quality of our dishes. Well done team.

Food was all really tasty. Therr was 4 of us, my hisband had french onion soup which was missing thr croutons and the cheese. We then had our mains and my husbnads main didnt come unril a good 3 or 4 minutes after ours. I had to send my pasta back as it was cold, and my mother in laws was cold too, but she was too polite to say as i already complained about the delay in the food and my own. My husband then had the cheese board and it came without grapes. Not the best impression for our first time there. But like I said what we did have was tasty.

The food was let down didn't get starters right main was miss understood for staff and half breakfast was burnt and other half not cooked when we told how we feel nothing it was everything u asked for then taking away with the food I look after my mum full time I cook.clean .loOK after house house work as she can't see this break a life line it wasn't great but just the food everything else was nearly fab x

We made a last minute booking for 19 of us which inclided small children. The team at the Plumpy Duck couldnt have been more accomodating, even helping with the obligatory family photo pic! Sent the afternoon, food came out promptly & nothing was a hassle. Icing on the cake..the soft play!

Had to ask for butter and cream for scones. Food slow in coming. Plenty of tea with a selection of fruit teas on offer Service initially good but lacked later on

We attended an afternoon tea at the Aura Spa instead of going down to the Plumpy Duck and I must say the level of service we received from the Spa in the afternoon to the Restaurant in the evening couldn't be further apart. The girls in the Spa were especially helpful, attenuate and pleasant, however, the same cannot be said for the Restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant after our Spa treatments and afternoon tea, we walked through from the bar/lounge and passed 3 waitresses and a barman. We were not shown to a table or asked if we had pre-booked a reservation for dinner. We showed ourselves to one of the booths as the restaurant at this point was empty apart from 3 other people who were booking gym packages. We had been sat at the booth for about 10 minutes before having to ask if our table was waitressed or do we just order at the bar? Upon asking, we were told that we would need a reservation and that we could not sit at the booth as this was already 'pre-booked' - May i add that no one was sat at that particular booth in the 2.5 hours that we were present in the restaurant. Also, it must be said that your waitresses do need to have training as they all left one girl, Eilidh, to do the running about. Eilidh was the only one serving our tables and the rest of the tables during our time there as the restaurant became busier - The other 'waitresses' only appeared to do some work when the Manager came through to the restaurant which i find appalling considering you should be helping out your fellow co-worker. As the tips in the restaurant were split between all the waitresses, we decided as a group of 5 that we were not leaving a tip since this wasn't going direct to our waitress Eilidh as she was the only one doing any actual work the whole night. Furthermore, when we went into the bar/lounge again after dinner, which was very tasty and well presented, we approached the bar to find that the bar person didn't know what whiskey was or how to make a cappuccino. The experience did kind of leave a bad taste especially after such a brilliant day at the Spa. I think the girls in the restaurant could learn a thing or 2 from the girls at Aura.

Stayed in the hotel for a night. Waitress was pleasant but had no knowledge of wine when I asked for a rosé & asked what kind! Wasn't offered a bottle and had to ask for drinks when our starter was served. Waited 10mins to be seated for breakfast and ended up seating myself. Waitress was slow and spent a lot of time chatting to staff behind bar. Restaurant wasn't busy and no need for the wait. Potato scone was missing and when I asked she said "there's none, I forgot to tell you" Disappointing. Won't be rushing back
