About The Butterfly and The Pig
We take pride in making basic foods, delicious and well presented; from the humble burger, served with home made mayonnaise and hand cut chips to our signature ‘open’ fishcake dish, presented in a Le Creuset pan, packed with potato and salmon, and a creamy egg oozing through.
The unique interior of the Butterfly and the Pig is best described as welcoming, shabby chic, vintage country. Our mismatched furniture and wallpaper give the Butterfly and the Pig a real comfort during the daytime, while eclectic resident bands and DJs ensure a more lively atmosphere later on.
The ambiance of the Butterfly and the Pig makes for a pleasant haven from the hustle and bustle of the street; somewhere to enjoy a quick lunch and a drink, or a leisurely dinner. Our food is excellent quality and prepared fresh on the premises every day.
We were a group of 8 adults, one child and a baby and so paid £45 deposit when we booked. The requested high chair was there when we arrived which was great. We werent offered any menus and instead the waitress came to take an order, seemed annoyed when we asked for menus and said she'd be back in a few mins for our order (as if to hurry us up). The tea was lukewarm and having only one jug of milk to pass up and down the table didnt help. Took ages to get another one when it ran out so lots of cold cups of tea. Foodwise, about half our party enjoyed their food, soup and french toast being particular winners but one sandwich had an outsider on the bottom, making it tough to eat, and those with cooked breakfasts found the potato scones and sausages to be hard and dried out as though they'd been cooked a while before and kept hot under a heatlamp. We found the service to be slow and the staff uninterested although they did tolerate the two kids wanting to wander around a bit which we appreciated. I was also disappointed that my baby's food couldnt be heated up due to there apparently being no microwave anywhere in the building (?!) and the high chair was far too low for the height of the table. Definity room for improvement which is a shame as we've had lovely lunches and afternoon teas there in the past. Also the bill arrived with no reference to the deposit already paid and all food items described as Misc Food so hard to split but we worked it out ourselves in the end.
Absolutely fabulous afternoon tea birthday celebration...shabby chic, mismatched china and hearty portions lovely humour and above all amazingly dog friendly....which Charlie the Yorkie/Schitzu is "over the moon about"...planning our next visit!!
Excellent traditional fish tea in a quirky setting.
2 hours wasn’t enough turn around for 11 people! If we had starters and sweets it definitely wouldn’t be long enough! The waitress was kind and reserved us a table in the bar! The choice of menu was disappointing as we have some favourites from the past! I would still recommend as we all had a lovely time! Just a bit rushed!
Great restaurant with amazing atmosphere, shout out to Hampton by Hilton Glasgow for this amazing recommendation
It was a special occasion and the start of a memorable day. Thanks
I really like the quirkiness and relaxed atmosphere. I keep coming back and it's great! Also like the occasional menu rotation (I'm veggie) to good choices!
Lovely meal and good service.
As ever, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at The Butterfly and The Pig.
Server was very helpful and provided a doggy bag when we couldn’t finish our food!
We had a great evening, easy to book and enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
First time visit, will certainly visit again.
Great flexibility in service when one of our party was very late.
Excellent gluten free offerings and clued up staff. As a coeliac, I'll eat here again with confidence.
I very much enjoyed my meal of Finnan Haddock, mashed potatoes and poached egg. The haddock was very flaky as it should be, the poached egg was just right and the potatoes were both buttery and creamy.
Excellent wee pre-theatre meal & drink. Staff spot on with welcome and service. Will be back (again)!
Excellent for a pre-concert high tea. Not far from Royal Concert Hall. Portions are very big.
Brilliant service and great food. Really accommodating to all needs and the waitress who dealt with us was amazing at checking we had no allergies and explaining what was to offer with the afternoon tea :)
Fantastic venue, great food and service
The Butterfly and the Pig, as usual, provided excellent service, food and ambience. It was a pleasure to spend another long lunchtime there. Looking forward already to the next one. The friendliness, warm welcome, attentiveness and generosity of staff is greatly appreciated.
Have ready started to plan my next visit with friends. Food excellent everything was excellent.
Lovely staffing as usual. The girl with the blonde hair is always so friendly and chatty, keep up the good work!
We really enjoyed your amazing place - the food was amazing with really friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere.
This was a wonderful afternoon tea experience! The food was plentiful and delicious. Thank you for having us.
