About Church Street Tavern
A great place to meet up, have fun and be well looked after. Ground floor bar serving craft beer, eclectic wine, cocktails, tea and coffee. First flour restaurant serving seasonal food from an ever changing menu. Quick light lunches, rare breed steak, private dining and events.
Another excellent meal.
Like the ambiance, the art - especially Sylvia Paul's clever use of merging colour, and rate The Tavern as probably best in town for spread of menu. Don't want to go on too much or might make it harder to find a table!
Great food. Excellent service ,and lovely decor.
The food and service was excellent but the ambience of the dining room left a lot to be desire. It is due for a make-over with a much more welcoming and comfortable look
The actual meal was fine but I find the rather unfriendly email telling us that the booking was not confirmed until I visited a website with a very long series of letters and numbers etc. in order to give my debit card details very off-putting. I would much prefer to give those details over the phone at the time of booking.
A great value excellent meal as a pre theatre experience. Welcome was a little wobbly, possibly because our reservation was literally at opening time, but the waiting staff were very good once they got into the swing. I would have liked somewhere to put my coat.... but other than that this was a very good dining experience. Thankyou
Lovely evening, food was very nice. Service good. Very quiet in resturant overall.
We had a really delightful evening and were particularly appreciative of the fabulous service.
An excellent evening. Food and drink was of a high quality and the service was first rate
Wonderful food, atmosphere and customer service. We are very lucky to have such a good restaurant nearby
Our server was absolutely fantastic. Very friendly and helpful whilst also letting us enjoy our meal. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Myself and three friends enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Church Street Tavern. Food and service were first class and good value for money. Both the upstairs restaurant and downstairs bar are comfortable and attractive. The atmosphere on our visit was slightly lacking but only because there were very few other diners. But it did mean there was plenty of room.
Thanks for A very enjoyable experience
Always a good experience with friendly staff in the restaurant and delicious food. Jansens Temptation is a must as a side order!
Very good pre theatre supper. The duck starter was particularly good as was the cod main course. Very nice sangiovese red wine and the decaf coffee was served exactly as requested and was nice and hot despite the copious amount of milk that was added. Nice staff. Thank you.
Great service and good food
Always a pleasure to eat there. Impeccable service : the staff and kitchen are always wiling to accommodate any requirements. Lovely place
Another great meal at Church Street Tavern. Food, service and atmosphere at the normal high standard.
On of our favourite restaurants in the area
I enjoyed the early dinner with two friends. Tables not too close. Attentive waitress Both the sardine starter and the baked cod main with crab veloute were delicious. Unfortunately the leek was difficult to eat as it couldn't be cut into mouth sized pieces, but we managed to eat it in layers. The desert I had of poached pear was also delicious.
Lovely meal served in time for us to get to the theatre-thank you!
My friend and I had 2 delicious courses each and shared a bottle of wine and were very happy with the surroundings, the service and the whole experience. Lovely to be able to have a cocktail in the bar afterwards too... Will definitely visit again.
Lovely food attentive staff tables not to close to each other.. really enjoyed our meal.
