Afternoon tea food was lovely but when we arrived I had to ask for someone to take a drinks order we were a large table of 11 spending a bit of money but staff didn’t seem that keen on taking drinks orders , then I asked again for group to take another order the food came and then I asked for our tea with afternoon tea to come ? It came but they forgot milk for whole table , then I found someone to get it it took a few minutes to come ...drinks service on whole very slow but food lovely
Waitress seemed distracted and had mixed our table up ... 1st time our mains came before our starters had been cleared and then she brought us a bill for a different and far more expensive table. Not what we're used to with the service.
The staff, service and food were very good.My complaint is with the booking service. The meal was booked well in advance but I had a call cancelling the booking the night before. They said it was an 8 am booking. I called up and was assured I was booked in for 8pm and the staff were very helpful especially the lady who served us.
Totally love coming and always have a wonderful time. I am vegan and my daughter veggie and everyone else meat eaters but we are all catered for superbly - with choices!!
Generally poor value for money in a pub restaurant Especially Goats cheese starter Although an enjoyable evening, i will not rush back.
Service excellent, lovely food, good atmosphere, nice touch happy birthday written in chocolate on a slate, returning in December for anniversary, already booked
All 5 of us had a superb meal great choice on the menu - something for everyone from early 20 year olds to late 70 year olds - thank you
Service with a smile as usual
Waited a short time for our pre booked table and had a drink from the bar. After about 10 mins. the manageress came across and apologised for the delay and did not charge for the drinks. Can't ask for better service.
Food fabulous as ever but service a bit off if I'm honest
The food as always was lovely. Great menu selection and everything was cooked perfectly. The only thing that let our evening down slightly was the service. Lovely waitress but very slow at coming to take orders, bring the card machine and had to ask twice for our water. Apart from that, a great place to dine.
Party of 10 for afternoon tea to celebrate a 90th Birthday. Wonderful time had by all, many new and now converted to Afternoon Tea! Thank you to everyone involved, we will be recommending without hesitation and definitely returning.
I have been once to the Red Lion (part of your group)and had a terrible meal with poor service. This was absolutely not the case at the Dog and Doublet: delicious food with excellent service.
Great new menu for Autumn. The Chicken Chasseur was delicious. As ever the service was excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Fantastic service & lovely food.
Another lovely meal, enjoyed by all.Good choice of beers and wine. Friendly and helpful staff, we look forward to our next visit
The staff where lovely and food excellent
The staff were very welcoming & friendly & the meal was great, however the service was rather slow, my husband & sons meal came out a good few minutes before mine & my husband & I had to wait for the veg, the same happened with my dessert too.
Excellent meal wide choice of food something to suit everyone
The flavours int the food were wonderful. Beautiful meal. Service was quite slow with the drinks orders.
Lovely restaurant.would have liked more vegetable/salad selection.side dish accompniment to main meal
One waiter throughout the night would of been nice. Tables and chairs were at a different height, table seemed low. Food was great though!
A wonderful afternoon tea with a delicious selection of sandwiches which also included a good choice for the vegetarian in our group. The cakes were yummy especially the coffee moose cake. Extra tea was provided when we ran out and the 'Birthday Plate' was well received and beautifully presented-thank you. The waitresses were efficient and friendly. Top marks all round.
Very pleased with the service. Helpful in preparing the table for the baby shower. Food was lovely as usual!
