Lovely staff, service and food. Didn't really know what to expect as it was part of a spa night package but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were really well informed about the menu and gave a great service.
We didn’t really rate the food , the scones was hard as a brick and some of the cakes / macaroons too sweet and sickly to eat there was a lot left over due to this reason . Atmosphere and room was lovely and service was good so couldn’t fault that was purely the food we didn’t rate
Booked on the same day. Kind waitress and kind service.
I called to amend my booking from 4 to 3 people 24 hours before arrival to be told by your staff that I maybe charged for the 4th person as the restaurant has a cancellation policy of 2 weeks notice. 1) who knows that a member of their party will be taken ill 2 weeks before a booking and 2) does the Garden Brasserie pepare all aftenoon teas 24 hours in advance? On getting the bill yesterday it was nice to see that you hadnt charged us- so maybe you thought better of it or your staff are mis informed re cancellation policy. The tea itself was average and the staff not that attentive. When I have taken afternoon tea elswhere I have always been offered additional sandwiches - not here. The cakes were ok but the icing was way too sweet. The scone was also not the best. So all in all not the best afternoon tea, in an ok surrounding. I dont think I will be back.
Lovely afternoon tea in beautifully decorated garden room
Maybe have patisserie boxes so cakes don't get squashed up if you take left overs home, the cakes we took home yesterday were wrapped in a pretty foil 'basket' but all the cakes looked horrible and squished by the time we got home.
Our waitress was lovely and my daughter took a shine to her and the waitress was very interactive with her which was nice as she didnt need to be!!
Excellent staff had a wonderful time would book again in an instant
Service was lovely as usual 😊 Emma looked after us and was very attentive We didn't like the cottage pie adddition
The problem with it was that it was nothing special it was just ok. A shame they can’t include coffee in the price.
Very pleasant afternoon
Very disappointed with service. Table was half an hour late. Waitress was aloof and even gave us a roll of tin foil to wrap our own cakes! She was apparently unwell but I wonder if she should have been working. I also had to pay for an absent person. I was not informed of this when I booked. Wait was lengthy for food and tea. It was a special birthday for me but I was left feeling let down. I will be emailing orsett hall further
Assam tea as a choice would be preferable , the decoration of the cup cakes could have been better and the staff and service was very good .
We was not seated until 20 minute after our booking then not offered a drink until 25 minutes after that! Tea came out eventually and was luke warm. Service was slow and wasn't value for money at all. Disappointing as been orsett hall before and it was good but not this time
Not bad service, a menu on the table for choice of teas / sandwiches etc would have been nice and also clearly spoken to bar staff would have been as they talked a little quiet when telling you what was on offer. But overall and enjoyable afternoon and good food. Thanks
Our waiter was lovely and couldnt be more helpful - she made my young daughter a hot chocolate and added extra milk so it wasnt too hot so she could drink it. Another waiter didnt look to happy to be there and when we asked her for something she wasnt very happy to help.
Overall very good however some restaurant staff seemed very stressed
Been there with my friends and family, a group of 17. First of all, the table was arranged in L shape, so some of us could not communicate much to each other. Second - we have been given a pub style menu for over 12 people with not much choice in there. Most of us wanted to have some nice fish with fresh salad, but the options were only the traditional fish and chips and a spicy fishcake... with chips. No one has enjoyed/finished the fishcake. I have been there 2 times with my husband and really loved this place and we have had a look through the full version menu and seemed really tempting, however when we've been there in a bigger group we've been given a menu containing 6 ITEMS: 2 types of steak, 2 fish meals, chicken kiev and arrabiata penne, which got me in big dilemma. Terrible! Totally not recommend this place for groups.
On arrival waited 5mins to be seated , once at our table it was another 30 minutes before food arrived .had to ask for jug of water and to refil coffee pot . Also long wait for remaining cakes to be wrapped to take home. Have been to afternoon tea at orsett hall many times . Hope this occasion was a one off .
Box placed on table and the words "choose your tea" were said no other explanation and the waitress walked off Scones were so hard that they were unable to be eaten which for me this is the part that makes an afternoon tea We were charged full price for the children that were in our group £19.95 is a little excessive for a 18 month old baby I called up 24 prior to our table to advise that my nan was unable to make it due to ill health yet was still charged for her place which i found very unreasonable Not one waitress asked if we wanted more tea we had to ask for this ourselves So disappointed as this was meant to be a special event which i would of got a better experience in the local bakers well at least there we would be able to eat the scones
Fantastic evening meal at the Brasserie. I am gluten, dairy and sugar free. I usually have to have fresh fruit for dessert. I was very pleasantly surprised when I was given the option of gluten, dairy and sugar free carrot cake! Usually sugar free cake is added with sweeteners or too much fruit which I can't have. However this was delicious and not too sweet. I would definitely go there again. :)
Service was very good. A pot of hot water would have been nice. Also sugar tongs for tge cubed sugar. We were there at 2pm at 3.30 tables around us were cleared rather spoilt the atmosphere.
Staff leave much to be desired! We were the only people there and were sat on a table next to one that hadn't been cleared and wasn't cleared for ages. A box of assorted teas was plopped on our table with not a word then she came back and asked if we'd chosen our tea No explanation of what was presented on platters and when I queried what the round savouries were she had to go to find out. We weren't asked if we needed more of anything and had to wait ages to attract attention to get more tea - considering it was empty apart from us this was awful. To sum up - food was good but service apalling - waitresses were totally disinterested in anything and miserable and really let the place down. For this reason I would not recommend to anyone or visit again.
Great service Lovely food Beautiful venue
