Afternoon tea was fantastic plenty of choice . Would highly recommend it . Couldn’t fault the service was excellent from start to finish .
Lovely afternoon tea, only thing spoiled it was the rain, couldn't go for a walk in the grounds afterwards.
Food was lovely, but the service was really lacking with items being missed off orders, no opportunity to order further drinks and we then had to track someone down for a dessert menu after waiting nearly 30minutes. The restaurant wasn’t full so can’t explain the inattentiveness of the servers. However, there was one waiter (a blond guy) who was fantastic, and even though he wasn’t serving our area he went the extra mile to assist where he could. Without a doubt, his customer service skills should be used as the benchmark for others!
Difficult to justify the price, very good food but our driver dropped at the door and found his place cleared away before he joined the rest of the party, waiting staff polite but perfunctory. Restaurant, like the whole hotel feels like it needs a face lift - have not been for 30 months since getting married there - likely to be that long again! Needs to improve if charging a premium
Beautiful setting and wonderful service - the afternoon tea went down a treat and the scones are absolutely wonderful - melted in the mouth and delicious!
Lovely Sunday Lunch excellent food & service
My sister and I brought our Mum for afternoon tea as a birthday treat. We had a fabulous time. Food was delicious and staff could not have been more helpful, attentive and friendly. We will be back, thank you.
All aspects of our visit was 1st Class and we enjoyed a most memorable afternoon. We also very much enjoyed the music provided by the pianist who played a non stop number and variety of splendid tunes. We will certainly book up again.
We were seated out of the main restaurant where is was a little on the chilly side as well as being no atmosphere but the food was lovely as were the staff
Lovely stay, will be back
Lovely afternoon for my Mums Birthday
My partner and I took his sister along for afternoon tea, she lives down south, works for the NHS so doesnt visit much and had never been to Hardwick Hall, Park or surrounding areas. The Hall had recently been refurbished and was looking amazing. A blonde lady (so sorry didnt get her name) served us and she was superb! She moved us to another table as there was going to be a bit of noise from a builder installing shelving, which was totally fine as she was just so polite and attentive all the time. The food was adorable, and we took some fab photo's! Highly recommended and will certainly visit again, soon!
Lovely variety of sandwiches 2 scones & plenty of sweet treats- had to bring some home. Friendly & helpful staff & lovely atmosphere. I felt very special.
Lovely afternoon tea...plenty variety
not my best experience eating out... I expected much better, I ordered a Sirloin steak medium... what i got was a warmed through grisley piece of meat, which was not cooked properly, it had never touched hot oil 28 day aged steak is what i expected, that meat was never 28 day aged... I've had better from Aldi... starter was fine... the desert disappointing microwaved (not fresh made)sticky toffee pudding with a tiny amount of toffee sauce.. Regards one disappointed diner...
Great value afternoon tea. Didn't feel like we were on a conveyor belt or 'herded' into one area either which I have found at some of the more expensive ones. Atmosphere was lovely and relaxing. Staff were very attentive too . I will definitely return . Great gift idea
We made a reservation for a party of 23 months ago. We waited more than 90 minutes for the Steaks, Pork, Fish etc to be served. as this is the main dishes they provide it was unacceptable. The servers were not sure what some of the steaks were and were back and forth from the kitchen, therefore the food was not as hot as it should be. We had a 10% voucher off all food and it was clear that this had not been taken from anyone's food. There was confusion and most drinks had to be repeat ordered. the celebration cake was also set on fire!
Afternoon tea for two to celebrate Wife's Birthday. Delicious food, probably the best Afternoon Tea we've had! Service was great and the two ladies working the bar/lounge area were very polite and friendly. Coincidently met a couple of ladies who were also out celebrating a 92nd Birthday. The staff spontaneously produced a platter with 2 pieces of cake for the Birthday Girls to share. Fantastic touch which made my Wife's day. A lovely thought. Thank you so much.
We booked a table online, however unfortunately when we got there the restaurant just had a list of tables and we were not on there! They said that they don't have the technology to accept online bookings... so I was a bit confused why they let you book online? The older woman looked like she was ready to chuck us out!! However the general manager was really friendly, got us sat at a table in the lounge part (which I preferred anyway) and apologised which was nice. The service was hit and miss throughout our visit - nobody checked on us whilst we were eating our main course, and we needed more gravy. My stuffing was also cold, everything was a bit cold in general with the food tbh. Overall, it was a nice meal, but I wasn't blown away and I wouldn't eat there again.
On arrival, we were warmly greeted and the overall service was good. Our order however, was incorrect and part of the food did not arrive on time. Apologies were given for this error.
I booked a table for four, with the incredibly easy to use online facility, for afternoon tea on New Year’s Eve at 5pm. I had electronic confirmation of the booking and I had to change a small section of the booking, so had a telephone conversation with Hardwick Hall too. Unfortunately, this was the end of the great service and the rest of our experience was beyond horrific. We arrived, excited at the prospect of a lovely event, at the main reception desk to be told to go through to the bar where Amy would deal with us. We entered the bar to be met by who will now be called ‘Mr Rabbit in Headlights.’ He looked terrified on my request for afternoon tea but said -follow me. He took us through a lively bar which led into an empty room, totally devoid of atmosphere. We sat uncomfortably down. Then another man approached – ‘Mr I cannot deal with the public, general manager’- and launched into -sorry for the lack of atmosphere, we do not usually take bookings for NYE. Perplex I responded with -but we booked? -Yes, yes- he replied -it must have slipped through the system. -But I had telephone conversations about it. Yes, yes it’s ok -He said and wandered off. Now we felt totally cringey and uncomfortable and a tad embarrassed. Mr Rabbit in Headlights issued menus, with the reassurance that we could have everything on the menu, he was only issuing them for our information. We ordered drinks and on his return he asked us what we wanted on the menu. Confused I replied -But I thought we could have everything? -Yes of course he said. Another layer of cringey, uncomfortable embarrassment was added. Drinks arrived as requested and things began to look up. However this was not particularly appetising: Mismatched crockery: Complete lack of atmosphere: The time ticked on and at 5.40 we reminded them we were waiting for food. Part of it came at 5.45. We also reminded them that cream, jam and butter were missing. When they arrived the butter was frozen and it was whipped cream not clotted. However on a positive note, the second batch of cream ordered was clotted. A CD player was bought in, which was a thoughtful touch until the bootlegged CD got stuck and fun, fun, fun continually played for a few minutes until we turned it off. Towards the end of the sandwiches, scones and cakes the pigs in blankets and what looked like ravaged minced pies appeared: At this point we were teetering on the edge of reason. Mr Rabbit in Headlights looked terrified when asked and what are we supposed to do with these now as we have finished eating? He froze, we waited and then knowing the poor bloke had no real authority (or skills), we asked for the general manager. To his utter relief he immediately said yes of course and almost ran in the direction of anywhere but here. We waited. And waited again. A lovely waitress (Ms Initiative) did pop over and ask if we were ok. We explained that we had asked for the manager, she replied that she was aware of this but was hoping to help in any way she could. She was then joined by Ms I have been sent to the Slaughter by the General Manager. The general manager had sent the bar manager to sort out our issues. He had reached ‘Mr I cannot deal with the public’ pitch. She started her negotiation with ‘It is complimentary’. Which went a long way to calm us all down. The complete lack of support by the general manager to his staff was clearly the underlying problem with the whole establishment. I have had some lovely times at Hardwick Hall but these are times that are sadly over. I would not recommend anyone to go there as the treatment of us on what should have been a lovely event was disgraceful.
Very helpful reception staff /Manager
Another fabulous few days at the Hardwick!!lovely food in the Rib Room and also a good wine menu. Service excellent - friendly staff happy to help. Hearty breakfast to set up the day. The rooms are tastefully decorated with big comfortable beds and bedding. Would recommend a stay at this fabulous hotel!
Very good service
