About Laguna Kitchen & Bar
Situated in the Park Plaza Hotel in the centre of Cardiff, the independently owned, family-run Laguna Kitchen & Bar has established itself over the past 12 years as an impressive fixture of Cardiff’s dining experience.
The award-winning restaurant serves Modern British cuisine with a twist of Welsh character, using the very best local produce to satisfy every palate.
The restaurant’s open kitchen and iconic wine wall create a charming and sophisticated environment ideal for a long, lingering lunch, 3 course dinner or an indulgent Afternoon Tea.
For a more relaxed ambience, the Laguna Bar features low tables, cosy sofas and intimate booths ideal for cocktails and conversation in the heart of the city. When the weather is favourable, the bar’s leafy, open-air terrace offers a unique area for al fresco dining.
The restaurant’s menus are crafted and updated to feature the best seasonal produce, whether it’s the A La Carte, Lunch, or Pre-Theatre Menu. For the full experience, try the Chef’s Table Tasting Menu, featuring six courses with four glasses of handpicked wine to complement each dish perfectly.
We went for the 3 course rugby set lunch menu. As a coeliac (which I notified them of at time of booking) I was disappointed to be offered a ‘fruit salad’ as the only dessert option. However, after I had raised this with disappointment the waiter was excellent and went to speak to the chef. I was offered a fantastic gluten free fudge cake! We still didn’t get the vegetables that were on the menu though, but the service and food overall was excellent
Food was lovely and great value for money. The staff were friendly and very attentive.
Service and food very good. Music much too loud to hold a conversation which was a shame. When going to a restaurant with friends it's normal to want to talk to them while eating, we had to shout at each other to be heard.
Lovely afternoon thank you. Excellent service, friendly staff. Food was delicious and service was very prompt.
A lovely restaurant. Excellent food and great atmosphere without being pretentious.
Excellent meal, well presented with very good service. Not many restaurants serve food on hot plates and it is good that you appreciate their importance. Look forward to visiting you soon.
A group of 25 of us had an excellent meal with you on Thursday night. Thank you!
As always, first class.
What a wonderful treat for myself and my daughter in law. We were given as a present an afternoon tea for two by my husband. It was lovely and relaxing atmosphere and the food was delicious
Had a great experience would definitely recommend the afternoon tea thank you
Very enjoyable pre-theatre meal. All staff, especially head waiter, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
Very good food and well presented. Friendly and efficient service.
Lots of staff on duty
We thoroughly enjoyed the gentleman's afternoon tea.
I took my mum for a spa day and afternoon tea for her 50th birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The afternoon tea was beautifully presented and the restaurant was very peaceful with a high standard of service. Thank you!
Your waiters and waitresses were very forgetful but it didn’t really ruin the experience as their humour made up for it.
Everyone in our party of eleven enjoyed. Service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Please thank all concerned
Food very good as I have come to expect with the Laguna, however, just like my last visit, the service left so much to be desired. Initially we requested a drinks menu, which the waiter said he would bring over. After 10 minutes and no drinks menu in sight, we were asked for our drinks order by the manager which we were unable to give without the menu. Furthermore, when we were eating our mains a waitress removed some of vegetable and other guests plates from in front of face, despite the fact that I was still eating. Overall a nice meal, but sub-standard service and a £10 increase on price of the normal sunday lunch with virtually the same menu just due to Mothering Sunday did indeed detract from the experience.
Very busy day with Mother's Day and international rugby. Service and food really good. Only problem (and this is why it's 4 stars for service and not 5) is my son's main course arrived with jus when he had particularly asked that it shouldn't. When this was replaced the beef was rare - he had asked for medium. At that point he gave up and had just Yorkshire pudding and vegetables.
Excellent service on a busy Mother's Day!
The roast meal was a little on the cold side however I guess you were catering for a lot of people. I also believe a roast needs some greens.
Great service and fab food.
