About Laguna Kitchen & Bar
Situated in the Park Plaza Hotel in the centre of Cardiff, the independently owned, family-run Laguna Kitchen & Bar has established itself over the past 12 years as an impressive fixture of Cardiff’s dining experience.
The award-winning restaurant serves Modern British cuisine with a twist of Welsh character, using the very best local produce to satisfy every palate.
The restaurant’s open kitchen and iconic wine wall create a charming and sophisticated environment ideal for a long, lingering lunch, 3 course dinner or an indulgent Afternoon Tea.
For a more relaxed ambience, the Laguna Bar features low tables, cosy sofas and intimate booths ideal for cocktails and conversation in the heart of the city. When the weather is favourable, the bar’s leafy, open-air terrace offers a unique area for al fresco dining.
The restaurant’s menus are crafted and updated to feature the best seasonal produce, whether it’s the A La Carte, Lunch, or Pre-Theatre Menu. For the full experience, try the Chef’s Table Tasting Menu, featuring six courses with four glasses of handpicked wine to complement each dish perfectly.
High quality food at a reasonable price. The 2 course pre theatre set meal was delicious, and the location is perfect for acces to local venues such as the New Theatre the WCMD and St.Davids etc. Will definitely return.
We had a beautiful afternoon tea, and we were really impressed that you catered for all of our requirements! Thanks for a lovely Christmas tea :)
Really nice atmosphere lighting a little low but was ok food and service excellent
Staff and kitchen go out of their way to cater for everyone’s dietary needs
Excellent service, food and wine,a wonderful relaxing lunch X
Service was disorganised. Pressurised to leave table when they brought the bill, although we were seated half an hour late. Vegetables were poor, all potato and parsnip. Not even one sprout and carrot each. Vegetarian option not suited to vegetables.
Sunday lunch was stunning. Excellent value for money. Very pleasant staff. Excellent all round
Sunday lunch fantastic value for money
Absolutely enjoyed every minute of the gentleman's afternoon tea. The staff were helpful and understanding for such a large group of us. Everything was timed well. The food was presented well and the group really enjoyed themselves. Will be recommending the afternoon tea to friends and family and I will be booking again.
An excellent experience! The server (unfortunately I didn’t get her name) was amazing and very knowledgeable and I requested if there was anything extra that could’ve done to celebrate a birthday and they brought out a slate with happy birthday written on it and a cake with a sparkler in it in addition to the afternoon tea! Would 100% recommend this to anyone and would go again!
We asked if we could come to our table at 6.00 instead of 5.30 and still leave by 8, we were told the restaurant was fully booked so no. The duration of our booking the restaurant was half full at best. We had to many people serving us so were asked for all our orders more than once, felt as if we were being rushed along. Didn't expect to get margarine on the bread with our prawn cocktail in a 4* restaurant. We left our table by 7 thankfully as the music had gotten to loud to dine to. The tables were slow to get cleared leaving the restaurant look untidy and when the were getting cleared this seemed to take a long time which was distracing, trying to enjoy dinner with fussing and arranging furniture all sround. Shame as the food we were served was otherwise delicious.
It wasn’t too busy, but it did take ages for someone to come over to take our drinks order. However after that, each waitress/waiter we had (they changed throughout) was really efficient. Food was lovely (had the turkey dinner) and each part was so nice and didn’t take too long to come out. Honestly, it’s too dark in the restaurant at night with the lights that low. It was making us sleepy and not as upbeat as we should have been. I can understand in the bar area the lights being low, but not in the restaurant. Money was fair, £65 for 2 dinners, 1 desert and 4 alcoholic drinks.
Always a great Aftrernoon tea. Polite & helpful staff, good atmosphere and wonderful scones!
This is the 3rd time I’ve been to the Laguna bar and restaurant for afternoon tea. This time we had the gentleman’s afternoon tea with champagne. Food was very tasty and plentiful, service was a little slow (but it was very busy) staff made up for this by being polite and welcoming. A little on the pricey side but worth it overall. Thank you for another lovely day out.
Gentleman’s afternoon tea is amazing
Food was lovely slightly expensive starters but worth it
I recently organised a Christmas meal for my team and the evening was fantastic. The service and food was top class especially for the numbers involved as this was for a party of 50. I would definitely recommend
The sandwiches I felt were not very appetising, the bread did not appear to be fresh ,just the usual every day stuff, also there were only white bread, I made it known that one of us was a vegetarian but couldn’t find someone to ask what was in the sandwich, Also I had to ask for the glass of champagne. I appreciate it is a busy time of the year but the waitress service could have been better . I would certainly not be returning there , I do not think it was could value for the money paid,
A truly wonderful afternoon, with very good service
Lovely breskfasts and lunch on the Sunday in a fantastic restaurant with excellent waiting staff, thank you
lovely afternoon with my 9 year old daughter and mum service great fantastic value
We’ve been going since it first opened and it’s better now than ever. We had a great meal there were 9 of us and all the food was great and all was warm. Well done
I had arranged this as a surprise for my husband's birthday with our two children. I had phoned on two occasions, requesting table layed for 4, even though ordering 3 afternoon teas. On arrival our table was layed for 3 & took a long time to be sorted. There was no offer to take our coats or offer us water (which we saw other for other tables). One request was no sauce on the food, we had to clarify this with 3 different members of staff. The hot chocolates were luke warm. We asked three times various staff for water. Also we had to ask twice for plates. I had been advised that as it was my husband's birthday they would do a happy birthday written on a plate, this was not done either. We feel we weren't shown the same level of service as other tables were shown. I had saved for a while for this and was very disappointed with the overall experience We had planned to purchase gift vouchers for my parents, but since this experience we have decided against this. I have tried to speak to the manager who is unavailable and have been told to email her.
An annual Xmas day with my daughter and I have to say meal and staff was fantastic best duck I have ever had thank you all merry Xmas
