About Mains of Scotstown Inn
The Mains Of Scotstown Inn is an multi award winning family pub, famous for its local sustainably sourced food, community engagement, beer, wines, live music, big screen sport and for running amazing events throughout the year. We do so much that it is hard to list everything, so imagine this…
Take a wee wander off the beaten path into Bridge of Don and relax in our restaurant, where you’ll find a menu with some of the freshest local & Scottish produce with traditional favourites and something new for the adventurous.
We’re all for keeping things informal, so we have a couple of menus for you to choose from, if it's a bar supper you're looking for then you can sit back in the bar and even watch the sport. If it's traditional Scottish pub fayre step in to the restaurant. Just choose the area to suit your mood or crowd. Whether you dine in the restaurant or congregate in the conservatory, the friendly informed staff are on hand to offer mouth watering descriptions of the tried and tested menu and wine list.
The ultra environmental and sustainable Mains of Scotstown Inn occupies a converted granite stone farm steading, The Inn oozes old farm house character on the outside and contemporary looks on the inside. The spacious restaurant, with its impressive granite pillars and high ceiling and classic granite arches, makes it an excellent dining venue, with a touch of modern design giving a relaxed ambience and great cuisine in a landmark building at the heart of Bridge of Don.
Excellent food as usual, the new look restaurant is amazing! We did have to flag down staff for more drinks & to order desert but it was busy so we understood. Thanks for a great afternoon.
We came on Wednesday a party of 5 and was instantly impressed by the updated restaurant, it looked far more spacious and better layout of seating. The disappointment was the time it took to deliver our meal (approximately an hour from ordering) when 3 of us had salads and one a baked potato !!! the salads arrived minus the sides of baked potatoes and additional salads which took another 15 minutes after the meal. This is the same issue we have encountered with the mains on previous visits even when there are only 5 tables occupied in the whole restaurant why does it take so long ............... An improvement on the service would make a huge difference especially as the food is good and with the make over it is really a nice place to eat
Food wasn’t as good as visit pre renovations, wouldn’t recommend highly I’m afraid, sorry.
Another excellent meal! This is a great local restaurant for us as it's within walking distance - so no "designated driver"!. The only slight query is that the online menu is out of date - this meant we were surprised that the option to have chilli with the nachos starter has been removed. Great portions, hot, freshly prepared food. Although it didn't affect us, there were no "specials" available.
Lovely food, great service would definitely recommend
Lovely food but due to few other diners not much atmosphere and the time taken to serve the food was rather lengthy considering dining room only had three other customers. To be fair the food was good when it did come. Plenty choice on menu and friendly staff member serving.
Expected better food after refurbishment, didn’t think there was enough staff to cope with food and drink orders, first glasses of white wine had to be sent back, bottle must of been open for a good while before serving. Won’t be rushing back
Its been ages since we've been here because of the hit and miss service and its like nothing, other than the new decor (which looks great!), has changed at all. Quickly shown to table when we arrived and a drinks order promptly taken followed by prompt ordering off food. My mac and cheese was delicious - really tasty with nice strong cheddar used in the dish and loved the home cooked chips too (you really notice the difference). Sadly my mum's steak pie arrived luke warm at best. Sent back to the kitchen and while the steak got a minute in the micro, the same couldn't be said for the potatoes as barely a quarter way through the pie, the potatoes were already stone cold. Clearing the plates took ages too after we finished (10-15 minutes) as the only waitress on was already busy with the tables that were in so god knows how they were going to cope serving (just was we were ready to leave) the huge group (around 25-30) that came in! That was one of the reasons we stopped going as the service was very hit and miss depending on how many staff were on/guests were in - usually not enough so it took forever.
We had a wonderful time celebrating my parents golden wedding anniversary! The food was excellent the staff were so nice . Thank you for making it a very enjoyable night .
When I booked I looked at the menu online. I had decided what I would like. However, on arrival we were given a dramatically reduced menu. Not one of the items I was interested in was on the menu. Serviceod although server did not know if that was the only menu. Food was quite plain. I had the Balgownie Chicken and it did not come across as home made but more something that had been bought as a ready meal. Staff were polite and I really want to like my local venue. I suggested to my friends from Dyce we go here and was a bit let down.
Thank you for a nice evening!
We were warmly welcomed for our lunchanged booking.. Menu choices were varied and more than enough choices. Food delicious with very generous helpings. Look forward to returning after the refurbishment. Thanks again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our two course lunch and despite using an Itison voucher we got to pick from the normal menu. The quality of the food, the portion size, the service were all excellent. We’ll be back!!
The food was excellent, service also very good and liked they did not rush us and there was a nice time between courses.
We had a lovely 2 course lunch. The food was well presented and a good menu choice. We shall definitely be back. The waitress was very attentive and friendly.
Overall, quite disappointed with the service and the food. We may come back for drinks but won't be eating there again.
The staff were lovely and service really good! Can’t fault anything! My daughter said the deep fried ice cream was a bit funky, whatever that means ha ha! She probably wouldn’t choose it again!
First visit to M of S. We had an Itison voucher for lunch. The menu was okay, we were limited by our voucher. Our drinks arrived quickly, as did our starters. My husband had a mushroom bruchetta and I had camembert. Both pleasant dishes. Then there was an enormous wait until our main courses arrived, about 45 minutes. We eventually received our food after asking our waitress. My macaroni was alright, a bit greasy, the chips were quite nice, but all in all very plain. My husband had steak pie. He couldn't eat the steak as it was luke warm at best and tough. My husband told the waitress when asked how the meal was, who offered to take it back. By then we were fed up and pretty underwhelmed. Would've been absolutely gutted if we'd had to pay full price for a mediocre meal. Unfortunately, we won't be visiting again. Disappointed!
Service was very slow. Took 5 minutes to be acknowledged by a member of staff. Only one waiter on at lunchtime and it was fairly busy. Food was slow coming out, excuse of only 2 chefs on...with the amount if people I would have thought 2 was plenty to deal with the customers. When ordering my boyfriend requsted bbq sauce on the side as he sometimes finds it too sweet so prefers to add as he pleases, this was meant with a sbide comment from thr waiter. Food was okay but time my main arrived I was past the stage of wanting to eat. Glad it was only £12 with it is on voucher or else would have been much more disappointed.
The food is fantastic but the time it took to get our meal wasn’t. We got there at 12.20 for lunch and didn’t get our mains until 1.35pm and I had to be back at work at 2pm!
service was a little slow but food great
The staff were all lovely and friendly.
Had a lovely meal here today we both throughly enjoyed it. Waitress very pleasant. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.
