As usual wonderful food and service, highly recommended.
Welcome, general service and majority of food up to your usual excellent standard. However problem with Lamb main course from a la carte menu. Not informed that it would come extremely pink and also very tough.Returned to kitchen as unsatisfactory and then same pieces of meat where returned back to the table some minutes later, lamb still pink , still tough.Unacceptable that same meat was returned and also I had to eat my main meal while waiting for the lamb to be returned to my wife. Not up to your usual standards
We have never been disappointed with the service, food and atmosphere at the Moat House. Always feels special with an experience to savour.
Anniversary meal in the restaurant. Impressed with early doors menu. All food had been freshly prepared, beautifully presented attentive waiter without being intrusive. Excellent value for money.
Everything was excellent- we will certainly be back !
Everything was perfect thank you
Another fab lunch staff very good friendly and Marrie always has welcome smile.
Lovely location & excellent food.
Sunday / family lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. As usual the Moat House food and team were faultless....it is such a pleasure to be able to dine here. Thanks to all of you.
Fantastic experience.... Well worth a visit for something a bit different. Staff were fantastic as usual. Special thanks to Stacey for sorting out all the arrangements and the contact I received throughout this booking. Definitely recommend and will most certainly be returning.
Thankyou all for making my dads 80th birthday truly special. You looked after us all and nothing was to much trouble. The service the food everyrhing was 100%. Would recommend to all my family and friends.
The menu is far to complex. We came a a party of four and all opted for the steak as it was the only dish that hadn't been fussed with. We love to try new dishes but this menu is over the top. We opted for the apple and almond cake for desert and and we again had to ask for the parsnip ice cream to be replaced with vanilla. When the dessert came it was a flat square not cake like at all and a huge portion of blackcurrents, a very disappointing dessert. The service was appallingly slow and apart from when we sat down, we we never asked again if we needed any drinks, and when we finally got the attention of a waiter it seems to take an age for the drinks to arrive. We booked this meal a month ago as a special treat to meet up with friends we hadn't seen in a long time and I was so disappointed. I love the moat house and we regularly come to eat in the bar or garden and I booked my 40th birthday meal in your private function room upstairs so I wasn't expecting the experience we had on Saturday. I did comment to the matre d when we paid the bill, (which again we asked for twice and in the end my husband had to go and ask again as our taxi was due to arrive) about our disappointment about the evening and he just replied 'oh I'm sorry you felt that way' but nothing else. He took our cash for the meal and I walked off. Very unhappy customer.
This was our first time trying a celebrity chef taster evening. We found the wine pairing for each course not to our taste. Mixing Proseco, white wine, Red wine, Taylor's LBV port & desert wine a strange mix. While each of these drinks may have suited the course they were served with drinking them all at the same meal did not suit us. We were also charged another £35 on top of the £110 for the meal for the paired wines which appeared excessive. The most disappointing thing was that we were also charged £4.50 for a bottle of still water - having already paid £155 for the meal this seamed excessive We sat down at the table ar 7.20 it was 10.40 before coffee was served which made for a very long meal.
Lovely afternoon tea with Mum & Dad. Only disappointment was the disabled access to the restaurant which was via the back of house area of the kitchen corridor. Come on Lewis Partnership, you can do better than that for disabled access.
We visited The Moat House for my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The front of house staff were incredibly attentive, and the food was simply beautiful...in looks and in taste!! I can't recommend The Moat House highly enough. It's always a pleasure.
We visited to celebrate my parents Golden Wedding anniversary. The food and venue were beautiful but this didn't make up for my disappointment. When booking online I advised that it was to celebrate a wedding anniversary and then when I called to arrange payment before visiting the lady I spoke to said she had seen the reason for the visit and would use anniversary plates/ do something. On the day absolutely nothing was mentioned or done which was very disappointing. We weren't expecting a lot but the staff didn't even mention it or congratulate my parents. In addition when we had finished we sat for a while and no one came up to us and in the end just walked out without anyone approaching us. I would expect more from a venue like this and came away very disappointed.
We had an excellent time, food and service were great.
Absolute excellent experience - excellent food beautifully presented, service and attention first-class, atmosphere and setting perfect, I would go every week if I could lol. Andrew Thomas
The food was excellent quality and well presented,a very enjoyable midday experience.
fabulous as always
Everybody commented on how lovely the food was and of course the exceptional service. Nothing was too much trouble.
Although the food was very nice , over the years we have been coming value for money has changed - we used to have freshly made rolls , vegetables and then coffee or tea included in the price , so disappointing
This was honestly the best afternoon tea and service that we've ever had! I had called up mid week to discuss my wife's dietary requirements and your staff went above and beyond our expectations so thank you! The loose leaf teas we're a great touch and we loved being able to change the flavour half way through. Your staff are very friendly, informative and professional and we will definitely be back and recommending to our friends and family. Thank you once again!!
Very enjoyable meal as usual ,however we were disappointed that the gourmet menu along with the tablecloths have disappeared.Vegatables have to be purchased separately .This along with starters (£9 to £12),mains (£24 to 28) and sweets (£9) along with a moderate wine can make it expensive for a bistro style.
