About Afternoon Tea
Indulge in one of our mouth-watering afternoon teas in the luxurious surroundings of The Olive Tree Garden Room or historic Manor House.
Afternoon Tea is served Monday to Sunday 1.00pm - 3.00pm
We came as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children age 11 and 6. Food was very nice and presented well, the environment was clean and tidy. The gentleman who was serving us was very polite and made a special effort with the children which I though was very good. Overall we all really enjoyed, and will be back-thank you :D:D
Have been a few times before however found the food not anywhere near worth the cost this time. Very overpriced and definitely not worth the service charge added on.
We like to try every season of your afternoon tea and always come at Christmas and do rave about it to friends and family. However I have noticed the last few times that the service has really been lacking. It is always very slow. We were seated and then left for ages before being asked about drinks. When our drinks finally came- only half came, and again there was another wait for the rest of us. More delay in the sweet food being served when we could see those arond us had their sweet and savoury served at the same time. My hot chocolate was weak and barely warm- I literally drank it immediately in one go before it became stone cold. Just really is a shame as the food itself is excellent, but the service does not match up and unfortuantely taints the whole experience.
Sandwiches were a bit dry ! They had obviously been standing uncovered for a while, having said that they were still delicious but should be covered until they’re sent out to the floor.
Very sad to be leaving a poor review as I’ve always had excellent experiences at Celtic manor for corporate events and of course wanted my mum to have a nice time. Although we stated veggie menu on the booking and again when I called in the week, it seemed this wasn’t ready. We were told to wait in an area for our table (no drink) and then waited nearly an hour after our booking time to be served. We had a baby with us and we all wanted something to eat. The food was a little dry when finally arrived. The manager did his best to rectify and apologise and gave us 50% off the bill. It was just such a shame as it was supposed to be a lovely treat for my mum who’s always wanted a visit.
We were very happy with the way you catered for my granddaughter who has a egg and dairy allergy.. selection of food was fab.
The actual tea was lovely, good blend of savoury and sweet. Perhaps swap fruit scones for cheese ones. Lovely selections though. However, waited 40 minutes for it arrive. Also pastries not improved by being stood in sun throughout the meal. But I would do again.
Excellent day at Celtic manor, good and service of an outstanding quality.
A very enjoyable afternoon for a birthday tea.
The food was top notch! Atmosphere was like a canteen, so noisy. Service was sub-standard. Nobody came back to check if we needed anything else. We had long pauses trying to catch someone's attention to get cutlery/more water/the bill etc. Staff were all very busy doing other things like laying new tables but not one seemed assigned to checking if guests already with their teas needed anything. Seemed like staff were avoiding eye contact should they be asked to do anything else!
Really disappointed with the menu selection as a vegetarian. 2 very small Sandwiches were given first and after a long long time our stands were served. The standard and selection of food was very poor compared to other hotels and afternoon tea. The manager and waitress were lovely and apologetic. Received a full refund because i wasn’t going to use my vouchers there again. Such a shame.
Treated my mum to afternoon tea, efficient, friendly staff and beautiful food. Nice selection and would highly recommend!
Fantastic experience, would definitely recommend and will be making this an annual thing!
One of our party required special dietary requirements - these were discussed in a phone call two weeks in advance of the event. On the day, the restaurant struggled to provide what had been agreed and their attempts to find acceptable alternatives resulted in a considerable delay in the afternoon tea being served. The tea itself was served in advance and was almost cold by the time the food arrived. The waiter hardly smiled and had a very limited understanding of English. His manager (also foreign) was equally sullen. The afternoon tea food was satisfactory and the Olive Tree was a pleasant location. For us though, the event was spoilt by the failings in the requested dietary requirements ... and the lack of a smile !
An incredible experience. This was our first visit, but it definitely won't be the last!
Very disappointed, brought my mother here for a part of her mother’s day gift on Monday 12th March, the service was shocking! The attitude on the guy that was serving us was appalling! He couldn’t even look at us whilst serving us his attention was elsewhere whilst ordering our tea/ coffee, at the end we got up to pay at the front he came up to us in a panic thinking we were walking off without paying saying “shall I get your bill ladies” so I apologised and responded with “I thought we could pay out the front” (as this is what I had done previously) so we waited for 10 minutes he didn’t come back with the bill carried on serving people so we walked to the front desk to settle up where he was out there saying he told us we could pay here if we wanted to! Which he blatantly never said that! Just really disappointed with the service we asked for no crab as my mother had a seafood allergy and never even had anything to replace the crab roll! Just overall a really disappointing afternoon!
Slow service but lovely food
great afternoon tea
Will be returning!
A wonderful experience. Always great service and food.
Great afternoon, fantastic food and service.
Offered Prosecco once at the table, only to find out it was chargeable at the end. Prices were very expensive for what was provided, Change of venue was not made clear when booking which was very disappointing. Our view was overlooking Hoarding.
Everything was lovely. Kind, helpful and pleasant staff and a beautiful environment. However, the delay in paying was something of a disappointment. I stood in a line of about 7 and waited for maybe 10 - 15 minutes before being able to settle the bill. Other than than, it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
I love the Celtic Manor and stay regularly, however I felt that Mother's Day Afternoon Tea was not really up to your normal standard! The food was excellent as always however I saw no real difference to your daily afternoon tea to make it any more special for Mother;s Day. Also our waitress seem over stretched/ rushing, had a cursory command of english and was unable to respond to a number of requests i.e. for more milk/ tea etc. Despite asking for the bill we never received it and then had to wait a very long time in a que to settle up. The harpest was a lovely touch. Will of course be visiting again but will not book at 'special' event I fear as this experience didn't seem to be value for money this time.
