About Afternoon Tea
Indulge in one of our mouth-watering afternoon teas in the luxurious surroundings of The Olive Tree Garden Room or historic Manor House.
Afternoon Tea is served Monday to Sunday 1.00pm - 3.00pm
Was absolutely lovely despite being really late we were still accommodated and not rushed at all children were allowed to be just that notwithstanding the standard of the hotel which is always a big ask
The waiter service could be improved. The marshmallows on the hot choc were stale and hard a lump of thick syrup remained stuck in the bottom of the children's cups. Having taken our tea and cakes to another table the head waiter instructed his subordinate to take them from that table to his coffee bar then out to the service area then back through the door to return them to our table !!!!!!!!! The food had been sat for a while and standard of such was not as expected. We were told scones would be served , they were not. This was brought to the attention of the lady who st us at our table who assured me that it would be attended to , however we did not receive any !!! The experience with Santa was marred by the parents and grandparents who insisted on taking flash photos of their children for most of the visit. My granddaughter has an eye problem and requires prescription corrective lenses of greater strength , because of the flashing in a softly lit room she was unable to enjoy her visit. Utterly disappointed
Whilst the food looked lovely , there wasn't a lot of it for the price we paid. The bitesize desserts were hard to get off the plate and one or two were soggy. I couldn't honestly say it was value for money. We weren't offered a glass of champagne or a none alcoholic mulled wine. It was quite cold in entry to the the 'olive ' area and didn't warm up , my guest was 88 and she was cold. I love the Celtic manor and the rooms and previous meals have been amazing . I won't do another festive afternoon tea.
We had a great time, the serving staff were particularly superb and a real credit to your organisation.
We arrived early but were kept waiting past our allocated time to be seated. We also waited quite some time for the food to arrive and didn’t receive our mulled wine. The food was well presented and creative however the scones were very disappointing. Festive music to dine to would have improved the ambience. Also the children need not have worn stickers with their names as the Santa meet wasn’t personal.
The afternoon tea itself was very nice and staff were attentive also. The only negative for me would be that the babys highchairs are notbeing cleaned anywhere near well enough. I had to wipe again with my own wipes before i could put baby in it.
Very much enjoyed
Felt very welcomed here! A very nice place for afternoon tea!
It was my birthday and booked the afternoon tea with Santa to make this time of year even more magical. When we received our afternoon tea the cakes looked like they had been thrown on the plate they were extremely messy and then I had to use a fork to remove them as they had melted and stuck together on the plate. My children's sandwiches the bread was hard so I presume it had been left out for a while. I also asked if we could take our scones home which once boxed up we had no jam or cream to take with us also. I also asked the waiter when he came to the table if we could swap the children's egg sandwiches for extra ham as neither of them like ham of which he said they don't get egg sandwiches but when the food arrived they did have egg sandwiches. I didn't say anything on the day because it was my birthday and he kids were just excited to see Santa so I didn't want to make any issues but I was extremely dissatisfied with the food and presentation and the lack of the waiters knowledge of food. Also my son spilt his drink and the waiter did see but didn't bring any clothes to help wipe it up or anything and just ignored us. I really will not be recommending this afternoon tea to anyone and will not be returning.
Problems booking via website as no facility for booking for a family of nine. Booking confirmation was initially correct but then muddled by staff and reconfirmed incorrectly. Had to rebook the day before by phone. Staff were unclear of running order and we were rushed into Father Christmas’ room after only half an hour at the table. Most other tables were being cleared by the time we returned and the atmosphere was lost. My tea was cold and nobody offered to replenish it. Couldn’t believe it had cost me almost £200 pounds for an hours experience with the grandchildren I do not see very often. I was really disappointed.
The afternoon tea was reasonably good but the attitude of staff (receptionist and concierge) was poor, in my opinion. I had an accident at the venue and the staff were more concerned with whether I was going to sue rather than assisting me. I was bitterly disappointed as I have stayed at the resort on many occasions and saddened at the decline in standards in relation to customer care.
Our waiter was fantastic! Easily built a rapport and he was a very charismatic person who made jokes with my daughter and really put everyone in a good mood for the night. I am assuming the festive afternoon tea is different to the usual one. I found the adult selection very tasty, although bigger scones are definitely needed! However I would recommend the ability to select what fillings are in your sandwiches/wraps and a wider selection to choose from for petit fours. The ability to customise your afternoon tea would put this in the same league as the likes of The Angel in Abergavenny. The Santa experience was lovely and so well decorated and just what I was looking for to keep the magic alive for my daughter who is growing up far too quickly!! The Olive Tea Garden is a very lovely room but signage is lacking. We didn’t even know we were in it until we stopped a waiter to ask.
It was lovely the staff were very accommodating and we had small children with us.
The issue with the food was quantity as well as quality, we had dried out bread on the sandwiches as if they had been sat out on the side for a few hours. Service was incredibly slow and at one point two lattes were forgotten about totally and we had to ask for them again. Not enough cutlery on the table, no replacement knives for the scones and no spoons supplied for the cream and jam. Very very disappointed in the lack of Christmas atmosphere within the Olive Room, if it wasn't for the music and menu (mince pie) you would never have known it was Christmas. And the windows were smudgy. Also we had an issue with leaving the car park and the machine telling we had nothing to pay but then the machine at the entrance telling us we did have to pay!! we then had to wait what felt like 10 mins pressing the help button before we were let out ??
Booked the afternoon tea and me experience for my wife’s 50th birthday. Unfortunately the spa area was having some maintenance which meant that some of the facilities were closed, steam room and sauna were not accessible due to workmen in the area and I was unable to access the pool for some time as they had put bollards in the way of the entrance. No signs to let me know where to go, no staff to let us know what was happening, quite unacceptable. Main pool quite cold. Very disappointed. Would not recommend this to anyone. My wife was extremely disappointed especially as our children wanted to surprise her with a much deserved special day. Afternoon tea was good apart from a cold room with no atmosphere. Not a 50th birthday to remember. Some feedback would be much appreciated.
Having had afternoon tea a few years ago on Mother’s Day my expectations were high, unfortunately this experience was below that standard.
We booked afternoon tea for my mother 80th Birthday. We did have a lovely time however during our time in the Olive Tree/Garden room and in the bar afterwards (I think it was the Mulberry Bar as we was unable to use Merlin's as we were not staying overnight) it was freezing cold which definitely spoilt the whole experience for our mother especially as this was her first time visiting yourselves (a dream that she always had). The service during the afternoon tea could have been better - we found ourselves continually asking for drinks and more tea and milk etc. (and the room wasn't full to capacity either). The food that was served was delicious and it was lovely not to be rushed out of the garden room. I would recommend afternoon tea to others as long as the temperature and service is improved.
Mrs Claus was great but unfortunately Father Christmas was not a convincing one. My son said he could see the elastic of his beard going behind his ear! Also Father Christmas was not really engaging with the children on a 1:1 basis when photos were taken. He simply posed and did not ask questions like ‘have you been good’ ‘what would you like for Xmas etc’ my son came away deflated & for £66 I don’t feel we had value for money. We love the Celtic Manor and staff were friendly and helpful as always but this event was a let down. My son however loved his afternoon tea and hot chocolate.
I have emailed a separate email complaining about the experience with Santa!!!
We came for afternoon tea with Santa. The staff were amazing- very attentive and welcoming. Santa and Mrs Claus were not particularly authentic looking and the afternoon tea area could have been more Christmassy and decorated more. Great elf gifts for the children though.
Hot chocolates were cold, sandwiches were turning stale as the food and drinks were brought as we were in with Santa (badly timed sittings). Too many cakes, not enough sandwiches esp for the children (one small finger of 3 different fillings) Santa experience was worst we have ever been too, Mrs Clause looked amazing and so did the setting but the story reading needs practice, the Christmas songs could have been more organised and also the
Good on the whole, but mother and father Christmas could have been more engaged. The story reading was awful!!! The carols didn't really happen, and Santa didn't really engage with the kids. We did enjoy it but not 5 star, more 3.5.
The service was what I would expect for an establishment like the Celtic Manor. The food was great, the staff were fine to substitute part of the menu for us. The price was fair. The atmosphere was the only let down, too loud, and not as christmasy as I would have liked.
So nice will definitely return. Thank you
