The Burlington has the classical and traditional style of a country house hotel with a fresh and exciting menu offering from our head chef . We are delighted to showcase the culinary expertise of one of the UK's most talented young chefs. Our seasonal tasting menu is a stunning & mouth watering treat you simply must try - let him surprise you with his choice of stunning dishes. Despite the formality the warm and friendly welcome along with amazing service will make you feel totally relaxed during your amazing dining experience.
Afternoon Tea is served daily at sittings at 1.30pm & 3.30pm
Very nice for afternoon tea
Lovely food and great service. I do however think some ambient background music would add to the experience.
Enjoyed our time in the Burlington. So peaceful and relaxing. Staff very helpful and oleasant
A celebration meal which really delivered. From arrival to departure, it was difficult to fault any aspect on the evening. The bar service before dinner was welcoming and efficient with staff who clearly know how to mix a good drink The food was simply magnificent. We had the three course a la carte menu rather than the none course taster, but actually when you count in the canapes, amuse-bouche and palate cleanser, we pretty much had six courses and loved each one. Hard to pick out favourites but the canapes were stunning and my mushroom ravioli main course was well balanced but rich and really intensely flavoured. The bilberry meringue palate cleanser was a joy. My wife had a chocolate and bergamot dessert which she said was fabulous. The dishes are not run of the mill, but not foolishly complex and appear to be designed for us to eat and not for the chef to show off. Additionally, there was no problem requesting a couple of slight tweaks to accommodate dietary issues. The service was faultless, from the senior staff down; friendly and welcoming but entirely efficient. Our waiter could not have been more attentive and helpful but without ever being pushy. This was a great dining out experience. Good food, drink and service where the diner is the one who matters and that is not always the case in fine-dining establishments.
Style over substance. Drink passage over priced.
Not as good as Cliveden or The Balmoral, but better than Fortnums. Preferred eating in the lounge or the dog lounge as we have previously.
Food excellent, Home James service a brilliant idea. Some of staff great, some need more training. Water on table please...!
Our evening was only made better with the outstanding service from Tom
Beautiful menu and fab service nine courses took 3.5 hours which we hadn’t appreciated so didn’t finish until 2325 which personally was a little late for us
When ordering a champagne afternoon tea, it would be much better for the cold drinks to arrive first, before the food and hot drinks, rather than afterwards, as was the case when we came. More variety in the cakes and the use of fresh fruit (eg. a small fruit tart) could be an idea.
We had an amazing experience for my mum's 80th. None of us were drinking but the non alco cocktails which were lovely. And then the food was brilliant. Great service, lovely atmosphere and all round brilliant night. We'll be back.
A really excellent meal, well served and a very good atmosphere.
I confirm I have already sent an email to Jack.
I booked a table for myself and my husband for his birthday. From the moment we arrived we experienced wonderful service from reception and through to the restaurant. We chose the tasting menu and it didn’t disappoint. The food was lovely - especially the halibut and the venison courses they were stunning! There was a delay between courses at the end of the meal and the the dining room had emptied out so the atmosphere dropped a little but it certainly didn’t spoil our evening. I would recommend the restaurant to all my friend as. Thank you for a lovely evening..
Thank you for providing an excellent service on my recent visit for afternoon tea. The food was excellent, the surroundings amazing , the staff welcoming, polite and very caring. The views were fabulous all in all my friend and i had a wonderful time. Thank you for making my friends birthday special !!
i attended the Burlington with my family whilst staying at the hotel for New Year break. The sevice was excellent as always and the tasting menu with wines delicious.
I will be back
Was a lovely afternoon, thankyou, we will return as I recently discovered my mother was a housekeeper at your hotel in the early 1940’s, I need to look for some old photographs, we really enjoyed our afternoon tea, it was superb!!
Lovely as ever at the Devonshire Arms, love this hotel every time we come. Afternoon tea great and even made us plainer sandwiches. Thank you!
A real mixed bag at the Burlington on Sunday, and that applies to both the food and service. We were staying in th hotel so went to the cocktail lounge first which was lovely, but that is where the lovely ended. For me, the service and the difference in the waiting standards was obvious, some were great and some were clumsy and non engaging, to the point we asked for one waiter to keep coming back. The food was good, but for the price it was not outstanding and again there was to long between courses, we enjoy taking our time but 30 minutes between a tasting menu course is too long. And finally the wine flight, i understand the glasses on this option are not going to be huge but i would be surprised if they were over 95ml each, not great value. Some dishes were excellent ( the scallop, and the amuse bouche ) but for me for 160 pounds per head for the food and wine was not justified with what we received. Would definitely go back for the hotel, but would not go back to the Burlington
Delightful setting and a delicious Afternoon Tea. Service was great, however we were served with the wrong hot drinks but this was very soon put right. A truly traditional English delight. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
We had the tasting menu on both nights of our stay and were delighted by the variety and excellence of the dishes on both occasions. The team were notified in advance of my partner's inability to eat certain foods and the kitchen provided some very intersting and tastefully inventive alternatives. The atmoshere was relaxed and we were able to enjoy the dishes over a very relaxed three hour period. We cannot praise all the staff enough for thorough professionalism.
A charming and idyllic setting, warm welcome, unrushed enjoyment of fine fare served with friendly professionalism - all ingredients of a Good Afternoon Tea!
After a good walk around Bolton Abbey it’s a fantastic way to finish your walk with afternoon tea . We sat in the dog room in front of an open fire so cosy, service was excellent and so was the food . An excellent way to spend a winter afternoon .
The gentleman waiter who serviced us afternoon tea was friendly and gave professional service. All other staff we came into contact with were polite and friendly.
