Our Bar is full of character, charm and a collection of cosy chairs to sink into - gin and tonic in hand!

Have a bite to eat; our all day menu is designed for that very purpose. Eat in the snug, cosy comfort of the library or on the sunny terrace on warmer days. It’s a place for any occasion and will satisfy any whim.
Booking is currently not available for the Bar.
we had the lunchtime fixed price menu - good choice of dishes, well presented, friendly attentive & professional service. A very pleasant experience throughout
Friendly, efficient staff. Excellent food, freshly cooked. Great room -spacious, quiet, well equipped and with luxury toiletries!
Friendly but professional staff. No problem to mix 2 cocktails that weren't on the list in the evening. Sunday lunch very tasty and well presented.
Lovely Mother’s Day lunch in atmospheric setting. Minor gripe, didn’t like the popular music playing in background.
Excellent Mother's Day dinner. Great food, lovely setting excellent staff. :)
Lovely lunch on a really cold February Monday in the restaurant. We were well looked after, good food portions, will definitely be back and will recommend.
All in all, a very enjoyable Sunday lunch.
We had a lovely meal and our waitress was fantastic. I had asked a specific requirement when making the booking and this was delivered with no fuss.
We did the Sublime Sunday offer and found it very good value, the three course lunch was substantial and we could not manage to eat another thing that day. Monday's breakfast was good though and we both enjoyed that too. The service was good and the room was lovely, we were fortunate enough to have a complimentary upgrade as it was quiet!
We just had little problem with table & seat combination. We were seated in what was your Brasserie, at a square table with brown leather seats and found the seats too low for the table. We are both under 5' 6" so this made it a little awkward & uncomfortable to eat. Having said that the food and service were excellent and we had a very enjoyable meal. As we were staying two nights in the hotel, we had a meal the next evening but this time we were seated in the restaurant and found this much more comfortable. Again, the food and service were excellent.
Staff friendly but guess too busy with private party to be able to provide full attention to "ordinary" clients. Service was not brilliant, but food was acceptable.
The food was excellent!
The food was average but the staff were excellent. We brought our dog and for £30 for a two night stay they could have put dog biscuits or something in the room.
Had a very enjoyable stay, lovely staff and service, would recommend highly. Lovely breakfast and evening mean & extremely comfortable room. I stayed midweek so it wasn't that busy which was a shame hence the atmosphere score.
Excellent service. Staff were simply superb. Best Sunday roast dinner that I have had in a long time.
We booked a table for an 80th & 4th Birthday, everyone went above and beyond what was expected to make our lunch special. Food & service was exceptional, We will be back very soon.
The smell at the bottom of the stairwell leading to the reception area was unpleasant both days, is this a drain/sewage issue? We were put in Courts room for the peace and quiet, mum didn't sleep a wink as the sound of the neighbouring rooms was intrusive and also the water running through the pipework each time a loo flushed, bath ran and let out and tap or shower turned on was unwelcomed
This was the second time we have travelled from South Wales to meet friends and enjoy a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Close. There's a warm, welcoming atmosphere and comfortable, stylish surroundings, good food, and friendly and efficient service. We're looking forward to many more enjoyable lunches there.
My first time at the close, very good service. Could do with more variety on the menu. Would definitely go again.
Lovely friendly place. A real treat!
Really lovely hotel. Rooms are well situated and nicely furnished. Staff were warm and welcoming. Would stay here again.
A very relaxing and friendly weekend.
The steak was the best I had eaten in years. The evening before we had eaten from the main menu and had enjoyed a fabulous evening in every respect. Our stay was absolutely great.
Very enjoyable, if short, stay. Will definitely stay again when in town.
Afternoon tea lovely. Lunch is lovely, staff are nice, Atmosphere and surroundings are warm and welcoming. Fab open fire, comfy seating. Had a problem, but was dealt with by the Manager Chris both promptly and kindly. Just a lovely place to visit.
