About The Folly
The Folly restaurant occupies a unique riverside position in the heart of Oxford. Our restaurant provides simply served, excellently cooked dishes crafted from the freshest seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant's terrace floats on the waters of the River Thames as she runs gently under Folly Bridge. Inside we give a warm welcome throughout the year and offer relaxed drinks and dining from Sunday lunch to Saturday cocktails and everything in between.
Afternoon Tea is served weekends only from 12.00 - 16.30
Had a lovely cream tea here - one of the best of many we have had. Had a lovely cream tea here - one of the best of many we have had A delightful place on the bridge in Oxford. Had a lovely cream tea here with bubbly. Food and service were excellent and would highly recommend
Waitress taking our order was very knowledgeable about all food in the menu and how cooked etc which made it much easier to choose
Our waiter, Martin, was absolutely fantastic! Very friendly, polite and helpful. We went to The Folly for my dad's birthday and all the staff made extra effort to make it a special day for him. I'd definitely recommend The Folly and will be visiting again!
So, I went with a friend for food last night with a voucher. Staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. And I’m no way pushing for us to make a decision on food or drink. And without a doubt it was the nicest carrot soup I’ve ever had. And then had the pork. Again incredible. Highly recommended.
The Folly is an absolute treat!
This is our 4th visit to The Folly Restaurant - we visit once a year on the anniversary of our first date there! The food is always incredibly tasty and the service has continuously been very good. We love this place and will continue to come back!
Really great service, enjoyed afternoon tea a lot!
Parking not good when you have a disabled person with you. everything else was magical thank you
Really enjoyable afternoon tea.
A quiet, reserved venue beside the riverbank. Perfect for that extra-special romantic get together. River cruise and meal deal adds an exquisitely delightful ingredient which will be recalled for years to come. Good variety in the menus, Vegan available too. Check out the cocktail desserts, the Eton mess is incredible! Not easy on the pocket but you are experiencing the premier end of the market. Highly recommended.
We have never been before and would certainly return and have already mentioned the restaurant to friends. The food was delicious and my husband and I enjoyed our afternoon. We went on the river trip earlier in the day and enjoyed that also.
My mum and Dad came for afternoon tea. Absolutely loved the whole experience. Thank you.
Fantastic! Great food! Great location! Will be back if in Oxford again!
We had a really lovely Ruby Wedding lunch here, hugely enjoying the food, the friendly, cheerful and well-informed service, and the amazing parade of boats and river activities outside. We were given an excellent table for two in the corner of the window bay plus a delicious pudding with Happy Ruby Anniversary spelt out in chocolate. Yum! We'd had our eye on the Folly for ages, partly because the island is such a fascinating place, and we'd inspected it both from Folly Bridge and from Martin's sculling boat, while practicing for a sponsored row from Oxford to London. It looked terrific and so it proved. We'd specially like to thank the young staff who made us feel that 40 years of being together was quite something. Thank you! Oh, and although we didn't opt for a trip in any of the boats, they looked good too and were most entertaining to spy on from above.
Good ambience, friendly attentive service and delicious food – sensible portion sizes!
Excellent food!! Would highly recommend.
We had a lovely afternoon at the Folly. The sandwiches were a little dry, but the scones were lovely. A very relaxed atmosphere. If in Oxford in the future would like to visit again.
Lovely food and atmosphere but erratic service. No one asked if we wanted tea with our afternoon tea! We had to ask eventually and it arrived when we’d already finished the food. Still, a lovely spot.
A very warm welcome as we arrived for coffee before a boat ride and then lunch. Given a nice window seat for lunch as requested. Service was spot on and we had an enjoyable lunch, three courses and coffee. Well done everybody at The Folly, Highly recommended.
I would have loved the tea with scones but much prefer fruit scones. Surprised you don’t offfer them, easy enough to make.
Exquisite risotto! George and the team looked after us very well. Always a special treat coming to the Folly.
Nice atmosphere, gret location and excellent food.
Great service. Always put things right if there is a problem. Great gluten free scones on a good day but do change if a problem.
We had afternoon tea. The sandwiches and scones were nice , but instead of cake we were given mini desserts ; these were also nice but not really what I was expecting
