About The Folly
The Folly restaurant occupies a unique riverside position in the heart of Oxford. Our restaurant provides simply served, excellently cooked dishes crafted from the freshest seasonal ingredients.
The restaurant's terrace floats on the waters of the River Thames as she runs gently under Folly Bridge. Inside we give a warm welcome throughout the year and offer relaxed drinks and dining from Sunday lunch to Saturday cocktails and everything in between.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 11.00 - 15.30
great venue for our team meeting. wonderful service. thank you.
Food & service is always excellent. One of our favourite restaurants. Keep up the good work
Excellent friendly restaurant with amazing food. Please get some draft beers though.
Beautiful place and delicious food
The food was generally very nice. Beef and starters very tasty. Every creme brulee was curdled - you should review whether to serve this. One of our party had to wait a long time for his food which meant a few people let theirs go cold while they waited. He was then served different potatoes (new rather than fondant) hidden under the beef which seemed a bit cheeky as no one mentioned it to him until he asked why they were different. Then the waitress asked the chef and they had run out. They should have been upfront about this as someone else may have preferred the new potatoes.
Found the restaurant on trip advisor for our one night stay in oxford. Food was good and certainly the chef was making every effort to please with presentation. We were served by a young lad who had just started working there and was very nervous. However we all have to start somewhere and he was very polite and friendly. Good place to go and relax, eat some decent food and enjoy the atmosphere. Thank you Folly
We went for a meal on Sunday lunchtime. All food portions were a good size, full of flavour and immaculately presented. The service was superb. One of our party is gluten-free and vegetarian, the waiting staff had noted this from the reservation details. Were extremely patient and accommodating of requests, and made is feel very welcome and comfortable.
Lovely setting, great food and great service
A nice location overlooking the river, but probably the worst afternoon tea I have ever eaten. The biscuits and chocolates were of a low standard. The tea was poorly presented. Where were the cakes? Very disappointing experience for my mother!
We were disappointed that having had a lovely meal when offered the dessert menu we asked for a little more time which we were given. Then our waitress approached and said we only had 15 minutes left on our table. We were rather taken aback. There had never been a mention of a limited time at the table and if there was why had this not been mentioned on arrival or on booking. The manager came over and being rather kurt went off to check. Rather than being apologetic he just frankly said that the system had messed up and it was fine to remain at the table.... it was awkward. It had been a lovely time up until then, but all of a sudden it was not due to a system malfunction that they could have simply said sorry for but didn't!
Great food, and atmosphere - perfect for celebrating a special occasion or just a meal out
Excellent as always. We were not rushed or hassled at all for a large party celebrating my daughter’s D.Phil. The staff were helpful and considerate.
Dining here is always fantastic, food is amazing and staff are so friendly highly recommend.
Vegan option was very good. (Warm beetroot salad) only problem that one waiter could tell me what was I’m apart from beetroot but he did ask another waiter to tell me. Cocktails were also lovely and well presented. We were sat in a warm area by heaters I’m not sure if the rest of the restaurant was warm though. I’m sure that it would be a lovely place to come in the summer too and sit outside. Nice and light with the roof windows. Well decorated. Polite staff. Good location by the river. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent food and great service. The restaurant atmosphere is lovely.
Came with my family for my mum’s birthday. We had fantastic service, great food and a lovely evening! Would fully recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion and not far from central Oxford.
The food was good and service excellent BUT it was very, very cold inside the restaurant. So cold that it spoiled our evening. The cold weather outside did not occur suddenly. A restaurant of the Folly’s reputation should have taken appropriate action.
Lovely Place, would be great in the summer. Excellent food and service
Really excellent food, at quite a reasonable price; with excellent coffee for not much more money than a much worse coffee in a chain store
Lovely food. Wait staff a bit over-stretched despite nearly empty dining room. Unpleasantly cold and draughty where we were sitting, and nothing was done about it when we mentioned this. Partly spoiled the evening.
Very good food. A bit pricey.
Had a dinner for my birthday at The Folly and it was great! The food was excellent, staff polite and friendly. Would come back!
A hidden gem... will return
