The corridors and restaurant were a bit chilly. We did visit when it was snowing! The room was warm and cosy.
I always enjoy the food here it well presented and delicious.
Very disappointed with our first visit. The afternoon tea is very poor for the price, we weren’t even booked on the system for the spa and the adult pool is very dirty inside and around the pool!
Wine is very expensive, food is excellent, the waiting staff need to be fully informed of what is exactly on the menu so they don’t need to check halfway through an order.
I have stayed and had dinner at the Hampshire Court Hotel at least 3 times now and the dinning experience has differered. The first to times i have eaten at the hotel guests were offered a hot bread roll, automatically. However on my most recent visit this did not occur. This made the dinner experience really good while waiting for your starter. During my recent stay I had the same thing for a starter and dessert both nights of my stay and each night these dishes appeared differently. I choose to have a snack as a starter as the choice of starts was not very appealing. Choices have been better during previous stays. For the starter, I orderd red pepper humour and pitta bread. This arrived with the humous, pesto dip and an olive tapenade and a good portion of pitta bread along side it which was lovely. On the second night the same dish arrrived but with just a very small pot of humous and 3 small slices of bread. The friend I was with ordered the duck rillette the dish came with the minutest piece of bread, which she is expected to eat a quenelle of duck pate with. My friend had to ask for a bread roll. Due to the limited choice of desserts I had the chocolate brownie with nuts and salted caramel, served with chocolate ice cream. While it was very odd dinnng experience having a pile of salted almonds put on the plate overall the dessert was nice but would have been better without chocolate ice cream. On the second night the dessert arrived minus the nuts, or the caramel sauce. I was how ever kindly accommdated with have cream instead of the ice cream. In my opinion the food and overall dinning experience has been better in the past. The Hampshire mess should be a permanent feature on the dessert section. Staff were friendly and professional, especially the young waitress we had on the first night.
The Spa deal worked out to be more expensive given the level of service & appalling food. The '1 hour' spa treatments were rushed - 30 minute facials were done in under 20 minutes - the pedicure polish (even though it was gel) is coming off after 1 day. The light lunch was disgusting. The chili con carne was the only main on offer it was watered down & tasteless. The evening meal was terrible - slow service, the steak although cooked correctly had to be sent back as the quality of meat was poor & inedible. They then tried to charge me for the replacement meal as we waited so long to sign for our meal we just left. The wine in the bar was extortionate at £11/glass. The facilities were very run down although clean but the deck chairs took up so much space we couldn't use the pool the next day as there was no place to put our towels. The room was fine. All in all a colossal disappointment.
Staff were so lovely and very helpful. The treatments and the beauty therapists were really lovely too. The weekend was great value for money. Just a little disappointed in the inclusive lunch but the breakfast was fantastic!
Food quality was good, choice could be better/more, but as other visitors have commented, the food is very expensive. When you pay £10-14 for a sandwich you expect a lot. Although I enjoyed the food I don't quite think it justifies the price.
Excellent food over our new year break
While the room was goood, the restaurant was awful. We had a reservation for two nights with dinner included, had hoped the first night was an anomaly but unfortunately not. We have not tasted such dreadful food since school dinners. The Lamb Tagine was bland, over cooked and absolutely unappetising. The fish was dry and over cooked too. My salsa consisted of two tomatoes halved, sprinkled with chopped onion! I could go on! I would recommend the hotel but would say Do Not Eat In.
It was unfortunately a little disappointing. Despite having prebooked, the restaurant wasn’t available so we were sent to the bar. The bar didn’t seem to know anything about it, nor the kitchen based on the call I heard the waitress make. Nevertheless we found a seat and afternoon tea arrived soon after. It was nice but felt a little ‘thrown together’ in terms of the cake elements, a lemon sponge slice cut in half, segments of a lemon tart, lemon macaroons ( good job we like lemon) and we weren’t offered tea to accompany it, until I asked for it. Not quite what I had hoped for as part of a birthday treat, although we enjoyed what we had, it felt a little lacking.
Attended a party night, food was a little bit slow coming out but it was delicious when it arrived
Enjoyed our Spa break with you. Thank you
Food is OK but not spectacular. The kitchen seemed to struggle to meet demand during the day. Staff always try hard to be helpful.
Dinner was amazing with superb service & nice music. Lunch was totally lacking on choice but it what we ate was satisfactory. Breakfast was good. I noticed all the laquer/veneer on the tables peeling. These should be replaced asap it will let you down.
Limited menu but this is absolutely fine for guests only staying a couple of days. Quality of the meals served was first class
Air con in rooms would be nice.
Great service Friendly staff Delicious food Generous portions
The food was terrible, we did not bother with breakfast! We did complain to the hotel and were refunded and they were very apologetic and said they had new kitchen staff! We also found the waiting staff to be inexperienced and did not know what they were doing. The only positive was the spa treatments which were lovely.
Service in the restaurant not good My Food was cold and waited an hour for it Not enough staff usually been there before and it's been good
The VIQ room was fabulous - really worth the extra money to upgrade. The vending meal included was poor in terms of variety - not teenage friendly. Lunch was the same. Very corporate feel and we were here as a family break. Spa treatments were not as good as the many other spas I've been to. No relaxation room and poor value for money - the pedicure was the worst I've ever had.
We had a buffet lunch with the spa package, the food was amazing and there was a lot of choice. the evening meal was nice but slightly bland compared to the lunch
The food was amazing couldn’t fault it. Staff all lovely and friendly.
Lovely spa break and we have been there as a group of ladies each year over the last4 years. Accommodation and value for money is excellent. I would however state that some of the younger staff (2 lads) in the restaurant really need some assistance with customer service skills. They looked quite miserable and rarely smiled. They looked like they didnt even want to be there. On a positive note though the rest of the staff and Lucas behind reception were excellent. Would def go back
