About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Apart from an (taxi booking) event at the end of the evening we had a wonderfully enjoyable evening at the restaurant. Service (Kieran), food (all courses - except pasta starter could have been a little more flavoursome) and value (all dishes and drink well value priced) was truly excellent. Will definitely return - despite 'the event' at the end of the evening.
Fabulous food with excellent service.
Absolutely superb!! Couldn't fault the entire experience.
Great night and the service was excellent as always.
Perfect evening from start to finish with excellent service, polite staff and they really went the extra mile to make the evening special. At point of booking I was asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and we were presented with a complimentary 'happy anniversary' desert after our cheese board.
The service was extremely slow to the point that some of our group almost missed the start of the performance at the Philharmonia, despite asking for the dessert on at least 3 occasions. Those who chose dessert said it was not good (panacotta). The starter of seabass fillet was good, but so small as to be ridiculous. Sorry, but this was not what we were led to expect.
A very nice restaurant and excellent food but expensive for the portions you receive. Staff where very pleasant and the food was served promptly. The tables where well spaced out with modern yet minimalist decor. I would definitely recommend the restaurant but would warn on the prices expected to be paid, including the 10% additional charge to your bill.
Lovely pre Theatre meal. Pleasant efficient staff. All in all a very good experience.
We would like more choice for fish and vegetarian
Too noisy. Large party with kids playing loud games on their tablets on the next table. The tables near the bar area also too noisy. Such a shame to have no quiet area. Food was lovejy, as was the waitress.
Enjoyed from start to finish!
Fabulous meal great friendly service Look forward to returning
Staff were really attentive and knowledgeable. Food was incredible. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.
Lovely food, friendly, helpful & welcoming staff.
Meat was good, but potatoes felt as though they'd been reheated (and only just lukewarm). After complaining about this, we felt as though we'd been ignored and at times, forgotten all together. Replacement potatoes arrived after meal was finished, without so much as an apology. Poor customer service. Surely this could have been dealt with much better. Very disappointed.
Excellent set menu. Service exemplary as usual. A relaxed atmosphere with a nice buzz about the restaurant. Can’t really fault it.
Really lovely restaurant. Excellent food and service
Lovely restaurant in a contemporary design setting.
Really enjoyed the meal.... when it finally arrived. It took 45 mins for the starter to arrive (feta and tomato so not a complicated dish!) Front of house staff were excellent and dealt with the issue professionally. They apologised, deducted the starters from our bill, and offered us free drinks. Think the issue was that too many people arrived at once and the kitchen was overwhelmed. We still left a gratuity as everything else was enjoyable. Had to give 2 stars for service but front of house staff were 5 stars. Would come again despite what happened.
Had a good meal with good service from a young man dressed all in black. One issue was that my wife saw a gentleman in a white shirt pickup a carafe with his fingers in the neck of it to pass it over the bar to be filled with water, and took it to a table!!
A very enjoyable afternoon. Great service. Thank you
When I made the booking I was asked if there was a special occasion, told whoever took the booking it was my daughters birthday, unfortunately must have been missed from reservation as there was no reference to it on Saturday. Also had to send my steak back as it was cold, not really what you expect for the prices charged. Kind Regards Barry
Attended for a birthday meal for my husband, we had the chateaubriand and it didn't disappoint, if you like steak I would highly recommend this. I am coeliac and the choice available was excellent and the service to avoid any cross contamination was brilliant. Also my husband was given a plate with chocolates on his birthday which was a nice touch. We hope to return soon.
Thank you so much for an excellent evening. The food was delicious and the service exemplary and my husband was so thrilled with his plaque saying Happy Retirement in chocolate. Very thoughtful and appreciated.
