About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Not very impressed with are afternoon tea experience the restaurant was not full yet we were seated by the door so every time someone came in we were freezing. The service was bad because there were not enough staff so I won't be recommending it to my friends.
Paid 2x £20 deposit in July for meal this was not deducted from Bill. Phoned on Saturday 15th and was told Sharon would contact me I still await a call. If this matter is not resolved my friend who paid for the meal on her card will take the matternupbwith her bank .
Fantastic Food. Couldnt fault it. Only criticism for us was to have some more crunchy elements on the goats cheese dish as it was very smooth. Other than that it was perfect. Great staff too.
Having been a regular customer of carriage works for many years the quality and service has never faltered
Interesting and varied menu. Staff very friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere. And the food was excellent!!
We had an early dinner as we were going to The Phil; pre dinner drinks , Dinner and cocktails were great. Huge wine list - fantastic. Paul looked after us through out. A great start to a wonderful evening.
Sadly let down by slow service, repeatedly asking for items that didn’t arrive. This meant actually we ordered less so the restaurant makes less money. one of the Liverpudlian members of staff helped us with some things including paying the bill as sadly the server didn’t notice when we left the restaurant to go to reception to pay as we were waiting over 10 mins to pay....
I booked months in advanced for a prix fixe meal after my wedding. I told a staff memeber on the phone about a dierty requirement, which was for me and my partner. He told us that the prix fixe menu would accommodate us and not to worry. When we arrived this wasn’t the case and instead was told there was one option to pick from the main menu. We both went for a main in the prix fixe which they took out things we couldn’t eat which I was grateful for but it felt lazy and rushed. Our sides of vegetables where not seasoned and dry. We got also got potatoes when our meal already had some on and the other guests received roasted vegetables. I just felt disappointed that our meal was a last minute thought when the chefs had plenty of notice to cater for us. At the end of the meal we received a bill and I asked it to be split 3 ways, because it had to be printed 3 times this cost 10% each for the service charge which is shocking. I asked about this and it came down to the fact it is because it’s printed separately. I don’t understand how this makes it more expensive. I can’t fault the staff serving us, I’m just very upset and disappointed that it was poorly executed especially on my big day.
Excellent as usual! Festive afternoon tea was a delight and reasonably priced.
Yet again excellent food (from the festive Prix Fixe menu), coupled with friendly, great service.
Christmas menu absolutely delicious. Service from the staff was excellent.
Thoroughly enjoyed dining there. The staff were very friendly.
Lovely venue for a festive afternoon tea. The staff were very accomodating and helpful. The cakes were amazing and handmade. Just needed a bit more filling in the sandwiches and it would be a 10
I was disappointed with our experience and expected better service and standards from the London carriage works. We arrived at our table for a special festive afternoon tea with heavy coats and bags and were not offered any help collecting these to put on the coat rack so had to sort ourself. Our drink order was taken by a waiter when we arrived at the table, then a waitress came ten mins later to take our order again - the drinks had still not arrived. Our food then arrived a few minutes later and still no drinks. We had to re-ask a waiter for our drinks and there seemed confusion over the fact we’d ordered them half an hour earlier. The arm of my chair was sticky and the festive afternoon tea was disappointing, especially on the cake front. We were further annoyed that an automatic tip was added to the bill for a party of four, however by that point we had had enough so just paid and left. I think the standards and especially the service have fallen.
Could not fault any aspect of our experience!
Really pleasant staff , helpful with group booking. No adverse comments from our group. Thank you
Cuisine was delicious but quite nouvelle in quantity and I was there with two hungry students. Service was great and generally it was v good value for money, not least because we arrived for lunch at 1.30pm and left at about 5pm without anyone suggesting in the faintest that we had overstayed our welcome. Very good.
Food very good as usual.
Overall it was generally good service. A couple of minor events occurred but didn’t spoil our enjoyment. We did wait quite a while for replacement tea on a couple of occasions. I also asked for the cakes we didn’t eat to be boxed up to take home. The waitress said she would do this but must have forgot as we weren’t given the remaining cakes to take home. I forgot to ask about this a second time!
Great staff very friendly
Would highly recommend. Many more dishes on the menu I'd like to sample.
The beef was cold when it got to the table but there were no issues with changing and when it came back it was delicious. Service as impeccable and friendly as usual
We all had an enjoyable meal with good food and service.
