About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
Another excellent meal, cannot wait to return
Although it was a busy night waiting was minimal and the service was excellent. We had the set menu which was very good.
Best food I’ve ever tasted absolutely top fine dining 👏🏻
Fantastic food and service. Definitely, recommend.
This was our 2nd visit Staff are great and service was as well I had a complaint with my rib-eye steak which was dealt with .Not in the way is was cooked bot the size and the way presented. This would not stop me returning but would not order the rib-eye again
Lovely lovely lovely.
Enjoyed it so much I have booked for Sunday 3rd March for 7 ladies at 2pm 2 of the ladies are celebrating birthdays.
My first visit but very impressed and would be more than happy to recommend
Whilst I appreciate staff needing to check if the food being served is good, it may be better to let customers be at least part way through the meal before asking the question. To ask within a minute or so of the meal being served, is a little pointless in being able to provide a treu response.
Very dissapointed in the service we could not get attention to get more tea without going to the till desk. No one came near after we started eating. Disappointed not to be offered extra sandwiches. These were nice. Cakes pretty but only carrot cake was tasty and the expected texture and flavour. Mini battenburg, custard filled macaroon, chocolte jelly/custard with pastry layers a bit chewy Scones cold and more sponge texture than scone. No butter offered. Only 2 varieties of tea apart from herbal, on in tea bags. Staff apearance uniform casual but not tidily worn. We were given alternative jam for the strawberry jam as 1 diner has allergy. Arranged at booking.
Lovely meal, great location & helpful staff.
The dishes we chose from the prix fixe menu were excellent. The a la carte promised to be even better so we'll sample that next time
Food was well presented and tasted amazing. We ate dinner and breakfast and the service from staff was impeccable they were very helpful and nothing was a bother for them.
A special ruby anniversary with your own touch, a perfect night, James was a star
A lovely venue; a nice mix of fine dining restaurant and more leisurely bar for drinks and afternoon tea. Their skilful dishes are variations on classic flavour combinations. Personally I would have liked a surprise element to some of the dishes to bring a little flair and delight. The servers were very welcoming. It was good to see a new recruit being shown how to provide excellent service during our lunch. My only strong criticism would be for the delay in bringing out our desserts. A whole twenty minutes between ordering them and receiving them made us late for the Philharmonic concert we had booked!
I dined on the pre fix menu with a complementary bottle of wine ..... really good value for money
We were served by Sarah who was friendly and attentive, service was excellent. If we were to nitpick we would have liked our empty glasses from the bar to have been cleared at some point during the meal but this is a minor point. The food and atmosphere were both fantastic, we had a lovely evening and my parents particularly appreciated the Happy Birthday boards presented at the end, it made my mother tear up so thank you so much for ending our already lovely evening on such a high note. We will be back! All the best, Louise
Food was lovely, it offered combinations that you don’t get anywhere else. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. It was a nice touch at the end to get a happy birthday platter.
Fab as always x
The food was great, the waiter we had was brilliant and when we all found out there was a free bottle of wine with the meal it was even better
The afternoon tea was a Christmas present. What a delightful way to spend the late afternoon. Staff were friendly and efficient. The food delicious! Thank you!
It was a birthday treat for my daughter and was most enjoyable. I would strongly recommend the afternoon tea it was excellent
Slightly limited menu
We have always enjoyed dining at the London Carriageworks. Our friends from Newcastle were staying with us and we were going to see Paul Carrack at the Phil, so we decided to take them to the Carriageworks. They really enjoyed their meal and understood why we wanted to take them there. We were very impressed with everything again. Thank you.
An excellent meal, efficiently served. Food was tasty, fresh, hot and beautifully presented.
