About The London Carriage Works
The London Carriage Works is a multi award winning restaurant serving modern British dishes complemented by the use of local, fresh and seasonal produce.
The London Carriage Works acquired its name when during external renovation works the original company name became apparent in the stonework. The company was a coach and carriage builders and built around 1866 in a pervading fashion of the day, the Venetian palazzo.
The restaurant is sister to hope street hotel and is open to the public seven days a week, from breakfast to nightcaps, with lunch, afternoon tea, supper, dinner and cocktails in-between. In house we also cater for many varied events from wedding suppers to meetings and corporate dining.
Afternoon Tea is served daily 3-5pm
We were very pleased with our visit, and will definitely consider coming here next time we are in Liverpool treating my aged aunt to a nice lunch. Not crazy about the glass "curtains", but each to his own. Excellent sticky toffee pudding. BTW, not a great idea having the loo downstairs in a deep basement - we're not all young and athletic, especially said aged aunt aged 96. But nowhere's perfect and you're forgiven as we had a great afternoon.
Enjoyed our afternoon tea , gluten-free was no problem will be back soon
Great place to visit and of course eat
I’ve been to the restaurant many times but was really surprised and disappointed this time. Firstly good feedback would be the service from Hayley at the table, outstanding. The greeting when we walked in was awful stood waiting for 5minutes before the greeter even looked up. Hayley sorted out table in the end. Food was really good apart from my main fillet steak was chewy and for £30 I’ve had better quality at Miller & Carter! We spent £145 and it wasn’t worth the money. The overall concept of the restaurant has changed, it was fine dining with more casual service but not food is served in the bar and being given TripAdvisor cards to review speaks volumes. The restaurant was really quiet and it was bank holiday and the philharmonic was full. I loved this place but feel it’s lost it’s way it’s neither fine dining or casual so what is it?
We really loved the restaurant! We selected it online and were so happy with the outcome! Our server Hayley was really lovely and accommodating and the food was inventive and fantastic! We will definitely tell our traveling friends to go there.
Fantastic evening at TLCW for our 13th anniversary. Our waiter Barry was great and made it a special night for my wife and I by listening patiently to our comments and bringing a surprise sweet board to commemorate our anniversary. The food was superb as usual and a special mention for the pudding - out of this world. Hope to be back soon.
Delicious food! We had the meal deal Mon evening, wine was included. Unfortunately waitress served wine, poured both glasses and plonked the wine in cooler! Not giving us the customery option to check the bottle or a small glass to taste! This has never happened to us before, maybe she thought it didn't warrant this only being the house wine!!!
Excellent food and great service
My wife choked on a bone that was inside the chicken breast. Although this put her off eating the rest of her meal, our overall dining experience was pleasant. Food was very good, as were the staff. Quite pricey, but good quality food and drink.
The food was beautiful, just small portions. Our waitress was down to earth and friendly which was really nice. The place itself was beautiful and clean. I would definitely come back and dine here again.
We have visited you many times and always enjoyed the food. None of our group enjoyed the Sunday lunch menu or the service. Also, you need to take the 10% service off the bill and maybe your staff will actually offer customer service?
Overall it was good although quiet for a Sunday lunch - ended with a mistake on the bill thou which took away the shine
Lovely attentive staff to my 93 year old mum and her friend.
Great restaurant, i will be visiting again.
Arrived early but it was no problem they seated us in very nice area of the restaurant drinks came fast food was lovely all in all a very nice experience will definitely be back
This was our second visit for afternoon tea and we were very impressed on both occasions.
Two evening meals and two breakfasts during a two day stay (one of many stays) Thoroughly recommended. Atmosphere is great, lively without being noisy or busy. Service is always exemplary - I had a medical problem and the server spoke to me at length to work out what would suit me, and the kitchen served that up promptly and as usual beautifully presented. We have always found that staff at TLCW are exceptionally efficient, professional and friendly, without exception. The menu is not lengthy, but covers a wide variety of tastes and needs, and we wondered at both evening meals how they coaxed such great flavours out of the obviously first rate ingredients. Presentation was superb. The sommelier service is second to none. It's our favourite restaurant.
The food was good. However the service was generally poor.
Excellent food, friendly staff
One roast beef wasn’t cooked as requested and service a bit amateur at times - didn’t take empty wine glasses from table for example.

Staff were extremely helpful, friendly & efficient. Food was delicious but not great value for money. Having to pay £4 for vegetables which should be part of the main meal is extortion.
The members of staff we met were very helpful, friendly and efficient in their work place. Will definitely return and recommend to family and friends. Thank you.
Prix fixe menu excellent value, however waitress was unsure what the dish came with and therefore whether a side dish was required. However, all staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was good. Therefore, this minor detail would not detract from coming again.
Staff very friendly
