About The Lounge - The Runnymede
The Lounge is the social hub of The Runnymede, with a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere and plenty of quiet corners for a discreet chat. Comfy seating, all-day dining menus and floor-to-ceiling views of the river provide the perfect ambience for informal meetings or simply catching up with friends. The Lounge is open from morning to night for you to enjoy the space at your leisure, from an early coffee and croissant to a light lunch or spot of afternoon tea and a chilled drink from our gin bar in the evening.
Food was very nice but for a Christmas afternoon tea the atmosphere was very poor. No decorations on table or in the conservatory other than the ceiling. A Simple idea would of been a knapkin, cracker or piece of Holly, Xmas carols. Anything other than an average any day afternoon tea would have been worth the money. For this reason I wouldn't go for Xmas afternoon tea again and only recommend it to someone who doesn't want an xmas feel for the Christmas afternoon tea advertised.
Very pleasant and friendly staff - scrumptious festive afternoon tea - all beautifully presented in a tastefully decorated room overlooking The Thames - thank you
Very sad that when one of our party couldn't make our afternoon tea The Runnymede wouldn't give us a refund for that person. It would have been a lovely gesture especially as I called to inform them of this weeks in advance
Extremely disappointed with the Festive Afternoon Tea. Sandwiches were very thin with hardly any filling. Only 4 small cakes each and 4 sandwich finger slices each, when we asked for more there was a £6 charge for 4 fingers. I’ve been to many afternoon teas and even the Dorchester and they’ve always offered more sandwhiches. Such a shame as it was a lovely Xmas occasion with the girls who I had been saying only amazing compliments about your left Bank restaurant so this was a huge disappointment and I felt a sense of guilt having recommended this hotel. Definitely wouldn’t go back for afternoon tea
Had a lovely afternoon with my daughter loved the festive menu and our waiter was very helpful and attentive couldn't do enough for us .
The staff were polite and very attentive
Excellent service and atmosphere. Wonderful and imaginative sandwiches, superb scones and a glorious selection of cakes made this a truly memorable cream tea. This is our second visit for a cream tea and we have again been treated to an unforgetable experience. Thank you to all concerned, and a special thank you to the chef for his delightful offerings.
A lovely afternoon lunch, the service was very good and the food delicious, it is my 3rd afternoon tea at the Runnymede and I will be back, thank you.
Fabulous afternoon well looked after including a member if our party with quite a few intolerances
Our group had an amazing time, the staff could not have been more polite. The Festive afternoon tea was to die for. Well done
It was a lovely way to spend a wintry Saturday afternoon. I have given 4 stars for the value for money only because I was given a voucher so not sure how much it cost!
Very friendly and helpful staff
A very lovely afternoon tea. Staff were attentive without being intrusive. Relaxed atmosphere and delicious tea. I am coeliac and felt well looked after. Definitely visit again.
Everything first class would come back with no hesitation.
I thought the staff were lovely. Attenrive courteous and friendly. The elderflower non alcoholic drink and scones were superb. Felt the sandwiches were rather too chilled although flavours excellent
Young man who looked after us was amazing
The gentleman that look after us was superb we were there celebrating my mums 85 th birthday
Afternoon tea was very good value. Staff were friendly and service was good even though it was very busy.
We had afternoon tea here and it was great. We went in the winter so it was dark outside early. I am sure in the summer it is even better with gorgeous views over the river. Would recommend it!
I had a party of 12 for mum's 90th Birthday. We all enjoyed our afternoon, staff very friendly and attentive, helpful. Food was just as I had asked for as I wanted a slight change to some of the selection. Plenty of food , left over food was placed in very nice boxes for us to bring home, they don't do that at the Ritz so I'm told. Plenty of tea coffee. Throughout the afternoon. There was no pressure to leave after tea, we sat and talked for a while, under no pressure. Had looked at a few other places before settling on The Runnymede, and am pleased to say I was 100% happy with my choice and would/ have recommended to friends.
The member of staff who served us was absolutely delightful. His service was exemplary
We had a great afternoon tea experience at the Runnymede hotel. The lovely service made the afternoon even more enjoyable.
Great service and delicious afternoon tea. Wonderful location looking out to the Thames
We had a lovely tea on Sunday. Beautiful cakes. Very interesting abd tasty sandwiches and fab scone. My only criticism is that 3 out of 4 of us did not have champagne. We had elderflower presse which was lovely but i rrally feel that the price should be adjusted if one is not having champagne. A tad overpriced for soft drink.
