About The Salt Room
The Salt Room opened on Brighton’s sea front in February 2015, headed by the team behind Brighton’s award-winning The Coal Shed Restaurant.
The Salt Room is a modern British seafood and grill restaurant. It's focus centres on celebrating the fruits of the sea, delivering the finest seafood and grilled meat cooked over charcoal to the table. Our emphasis being on sustainability, championing local produce and continuing the ethos of sharing plates like it’s sister restaurant, The Coal Shed.
Located opposite the West Pier, this seaside dining retreat has uninterrupted sea views that can be enjoyed from the inside via its glass fronted windows and for when the temperatures rise, outside on its shaded terrace.
Afternoon Tea, featuring the best of sweet and savoury treats served with Jing Tea and Taittinger Champagne is served from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
At the bar you’re able to choose from one of the innovative cocktails or something from the extensive wine list whilst you wait for a table to sample some of the delights…
Private Dining Room for up to 14 is available for all occasions.
Took amazing care of us - special evening as we had just got engaged, I had reached out before hand to arrange champagne on arrival and everything was taken care of. Staff were super attentive and food was incredible. Oysters to start, SeaBass special for mains and a pudding to share. Throw in some advice on the wine and honestly it couldn't have been a better evening. Would go back again and again. Thank you!
We had a another lovely meal here. Our third visit - and each time the staff have been fabulous and the food is great. To make it perfect we would add one more non-fish dish to the menu please (a naked burger perhaps?). Also - window tables (we were on table 28) - it would be nice to have the chairs of the tables for 2 facing out to the wonderful view. Having said those 2 minor things (well - you did ask!) we will be back and we will be recommending you onto friends and family. Thank you - again!
A fantastic meal with friends. Lovely food, wine and exceptional service from our waiter. Can't wait to come back again!
My husband asked for real ale. The beer he chose was canned not bottled and being stored in chilling cabinet which spoiled his enjoyment of the Punk IPA. We were celebrating our son's birthday and my husband's birthday. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the food and spoiled us by presenting thd birthday 'boys' with a celebratory plate and truffles. We had an excellent meal and service. Thank you very much.
Fantastic food but had a table at the back of the restaurant and found the acoustics very bad. It was Saturday night and full. We had a job to conduct a conversation without shouting.
Excellent food and excellent service. We will be back
Almost great but let down by little things like having to send back my main course which was cold cod fritters also tepid), an underwhelming cheeseboard, and wine arriving after food. Overall the food was delicious, the wine advice very good and service pleasant.
The service was superb, one of the best experiences.
Fabulous in all areas above, particularly the service.
My experience of the Salt Room has always been exceptional so I was really looking forward to one of the hotly tipped afternoon teas. With a choice of teas / gin / champagne, it was a real treat - melt in the mouth homemade scones with a selection of traditional and not-so-traditional savoury and sweet accompaniments. Surprisingly we had to return the cream as it had curdled but this was quickly rectified. Overall it was very enjoyable.
We absolutely loved our experience at the salt room. It was a very special lunch for my birthday and the food lived up to the standard for the occasion. Service was very attentive and we really appreciated having a table out the way with a sea view as we had a new born in tow. We couldn’t afford to eat here regularly but did not begrudge the pricing for the experience. Only negative was that I would have appreciated a covered bin in the disabled toilet (nappy change), I felt a bit bad leaving nappies and pads in the open basket.
Had a meal for our son's 50th birthday last week. Great evening - our favourite unbeatable restaurant.
Amazing as always. So good I’ve booked a table for 2days later.
This place is great - see review here: https://eatdrinkandaway.wordpress.com/2017/10/15/oh-i-do-like-to-be/
Thank you for looking after our large party so well. We all had a wonderful time and the food was delicious.
Lived up to, and exceeded, expectations. Good atmosphere and layout, excellent service, very good food and wine.
While I loved the whole experience I can't help feeling it was over priced.
It was all brilliant except for the coffee which was clearly not fresh and virtually undrinkable. Apart from that everything else was perfect.
This restaurant is absolutely excellent. The waitress that we had was extremely attentive, receptive and extremely pleasant. We went as a group of 11 people and everything was spot on. There were no delays in the food getting out and everything was scrumptious, would just have liked a bit more on the plate.
Excellent fantastic dining experience.
Absolutely lovely but......pre lunch cocktail tiny and expensive, together with a can of lager at £5.50! In my view WAY over the top. Food fabulous. But again, quite small portions. And £3.50 (I think) for a very small dish of chips?! Why not include and prevent criticism. We'll go again though. Thanks
Food was delicious and lovely atmosphere. The service was great too.
Had been keen to visit, followed the menus for a while. So when the £20 deal came up, we booked, very excited. On the night, the main course was, finally, everything we'd hoped for, succulent cod, delicious. But we would have liked to have a choice of starter or desert, we would both have chosen a starter. A nice experience but not as good as we had hoped.
Brighton food at its very very best
A superb meal for a special occasion
