About The Torrance Hotel

Torrance Hotel has a rich history. It was originally built as a cotton-spinning mill and workers houses and was the very first manufacturing enterprise in the village of East Kilbride. Recently refurbished and significantly upgraded, The Torrance has always been at the heart of East Kilbride. The building has retained all its original character and charm. We have 20 comfortable bedrooms including the newly refurbished Honeymoon Suite. Enjoy a meal in our warm and friendly restaurant or lounge bar which caters for a wide range of food from traditional meals to bar snacks. We have a special menu for children and a wide range of sophisticated dishes for adults.

Disappointing meal, had to send steak back as it wasn't warm. Chips , however, were roasting. Apologies were given. Also had to ask for steak knife as none was offered I am allergic to mushrooms so asked for them to be limited, but no alternative was offered

Service was very slow. Took ages for drinks to come and when we asked for the bill we had to ask again as no one brought it over.

Could be excellent with a few tweaks. 1. Have the same server or servers cover certain tables. We were served by roughly 6 different people which meant repeating the same drinks order over and over again and meant the staff didn’t know who had ordered what. 2. Drinks were forgotten or incorrect 3. We were served 5 mains and waited a further 10mins for main number 6 (steak pie). 4. £50 off voucher wasn’t taken off bill, again this was down to the number of staff serving us...it was handed to server number 2 I think. 5. Waited an hour for 2 sharing platter starters, we ordered these to share as we thought it would have been quicker than 6 individual starters. Overall we like the Torrance but all of the above are things they could/should improve on

Would like to say that we had a lovely meal on Saturday and Ian who was our waiter ensured absolutely everything was perfect!!! My mum has not kept well and this was a special treat and when we explained this to Ian and that she loves a porn star martini but sadly can’t drink at moment he got her one made up as a moctail all the little extras that made our day perfect we shall def be back

Went for lunch and ate in the restaurant. We had twin girls aged one staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. Plenty of choice on the a la carte menu. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were excellent with the twins. They continued to speak and interact with them the whole time... will definitely return. Didn’t get the young guys name who was the server but he was first class

Dreadfully slow service... arrived 12.30...table booked for party of 5 at 12.45.... ordered and starters served before 13.15. Main course not served till 14.30!! Slowest service either myself or any of my party have ever had. No return visit for us.

The service was very slow even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy. We ordered drinks for our table and after 25 mins had to leave our table and ask 3 different staff members where they were. Our starters all came out wrong and had to be sent back causing us to wait any longer. It was ashame as we were looking forward to dining there.

With regards to the service,I gave 3 stars. We waited a wee while for the drinks and then again for our food. While sitting waiting,I noticed that most of the staff was preoccupied more with the party going on in the party room and where given priority first over other customers who wasn't in the party room. It wasn't until more staff started their shift that we noticed that we where given a bit more attention. Their should be staff waiting on customers in the party room and also staff assigned to customers not in the party room.
