Whitby's Restaurant & Bar is renowned as the best buffet restaurant in town. Located on the 17th floor of the hotel, it boasts views of the city and harbour. Whitby's offers an extensive buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner with an a la carte dinner as well.

We’ve been to Whitby’s for High Tea a few times, and have always been impressed by the tea, the food, and most of all - the service. This time we were served by Lance, who had such a passion for tea, that he added even more to the experience. We will definitely be back!

We booked a group of 23 and they all enjoyed their dinner. We have a long two days of full on meetings and going to Whitbys was nice a relaxed so thank you. We will definitely be dinning here again
Would like to see hot chips added to buffet self service. Otherwise excellent meal.
We have eaten at the several times before, but the service was not very good this time. Despite the restaurant not being nearly as busy as it has been our last few visits. We waited a very long time for someone to take our drinks order and in the end had to flag down a server. We thought maybe you had changed the policy and we had to go to the bar and order ourselves. Found that not to be the case either as the bar did not always have someone behind it - was not just the same atmosphere or service that we have had previously.
We were quite disappointed, especially on the gluten free range. There weren't many choices even for the non gf person and only one meat choice that was gf. And we have to come back as we bought more vouchers. If we had known it was going to be so limited, we wouldn't have bought all the vouchers we did. Overall, very disappointing
Bit disappointed this time round as the beans were overcooked and a bit mushy! Fish also overcooked! And no cheesecake! Oh and someone forgot to bring the green tea I ordered. Shame as i invited my sister in law from Auckland and other family members on this occasion.
The place is very dirty despite not being too busy. The carpets are littered with food, the couch has got bowls and plates, and the food area is smeared with sauces and soup.

Soup great! Curry great! Chicken nice. Fish ugh. Prawns worst ever eaten. Steak chewy. Desert was also nice. Service fabulous.
Food is always wonderful and a big variety. Is good value for money when kids dine free in the holidays and under 5 are always free. Works out good for my family. Definitely worthy of price.
I believe that the food that we were told on the online menu which includes steak was not served. The cleanness of the buffet was a bit grubby at times, including the soup area. Loved every moment of it! Windows could do with a clean looking other the city. We will be returning in the near future x
Excellent service and good atmosphere for kids
The 11.30am Hi Tea we booked was passable, if a little heavy on the sweet selection. Food was served well before the tea was. Waiter was observed to spend an inordinate amount of time at 2 nearby tables laboriously describing the long list of teas available. We tried to catch his attention several times in vain. Eventually a lady (the maître de perhaps) arrived & she kindly offered to make us our tea at the station & brought it to us. Half way through hi-tea, the waiter finally arrived with his cart. We ordered our favourite tea, but he was quite pushy in trying to get us to try his favourite !! My partner succumbed, but I stuck to my choice. We asked him to refill the tea pot of hot water as it had grown cold, but he disappeared with it & never returned. We're unlikely to to return if this is the level of service so early in the day.
We have booked online our easter lunch at 1 pm this sunday, rang at 11am if it’s possible to make it earlier at 12 noon instead and your staff on the phone advised to just come at 12. He explained on the phone that as it won’t matter as the online booking only staggers the booking automatically and one small group of three will not make a difference. When we arrived, Julie was at the counter. She loudly and rudely told us off that there is no table available and questions who we spoke to as she said she was the only one who answers calls. She told us that her staff was informed that they are already fully booked. We informed her of our booking and showed her our booking confirmation, and that we did call earlier. When she finally seemed to find our names on her list she told us that she will let us have a table outside the main dining area which we don’t have a problem with but could not help notice that during our stay, the main dining area has never filled. We wouldn’t have had a problem if indeed you were fully booked and no issues being situated separate from the main dining hall but what bothers me is the way she spoke to us which can only be described as being loud, tactless and rude in an attempt to make us feel embarrassed and shooing us away like beggars on the street. After we got our table, I advised her that she needs to improve her customer service as we felt bad with the way she treated us and spoken to. She was too rude to even acknowledge what we said then. From our (customer’s) perspective, we are paying customers who took all the necessary steps to ensure a pleasurable dining experience as we had before in your establishment only to be confronted by your manager in an inhospitable way. Our initial interaction with your manager has ruined the whole experience for us. Our Easter lunch which was supposed to be a happy family get together, we will only remember for as a poor customer service experience. Regards Emmanuel
We went there for a lunch booking so that the young grandchildren could attend. Staff went out of there way to help without being obtrusive. The food was excellent with an excellent range. We were there to celebrate a 60th with family and everybody said how much they enjoyed the experience. Will definitely be back.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends and will definitely dine in again! The reception was very lovely in dealing with us and making sure everything was to our satisfaction. She was kind enough to go through check guest list with me and made things so easy for me without stress. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the food. Complemetaries to the chiefs responsible for pulling off the most delicious buffet. Freshly cooked and really amazing! What an awesome experience! Will definitely love to relive this experience lol five star material!
Good selection of hot and cold food, would’ve liked more choices of condiments eg. Salad dressings, real butter, etc
